Any idea on when Gritiomatic?
They already have the design and will be testing, manufacturing and calculating a price, so hopefully soon.

It might be worth emailing them directly to show interest or ask about timing.

These holders can take stones from 5 3/4 to 8 3/4 inches long, including some bench stones up to approximately 3/4 inch thick.
Getting first stones list and thinking through simple knowledge set for rookie sharpener using LeadingEdge V-Sharpener: there will be no trailing edge needed. He will choose weather he wants to get stones that need dressing, and I'm getting him a rust eraser to help with cleaning ceramics.
Other then budget, is there any reason not to use 8" x 2" or 3" x 1/2 inch ceramic ALO, SIC or diamond stones, other then increasing forces on sharpener may reduce service life (I'll make sure he can service his serations in kit)?
My assumption is that holding vertical across 8" long surface of 2 or 3 inch stones and sweeping to tip is the same difficulty as corner of triangle, 1/2 or 1 inch wide stones.

I primarily designed this for the popular and widely available 6x1 inch stones to allow a wide variety of stone choice and cost but if Gritomatic releases the bigger stone holder option then it should give users the choice to use bigger stones like the ones you mention.

Yes, Gritomatic has plenty of them printed and ready to be released. Now it's up to them to decide on a release date.

If you're interested, drop them a note via their "contact us" link and ask if they'll release one for you.

Gritomatic now have them in stock. Two options are available - a DIY self assemble kit, or a pre-assembled and lubricated kit.

Glad you like it! Did you get one for yourself?

Not yet, I'm loaded up on sharpening gear since I'm a nut, which means I still might pick one up eventually lol. What I have been hunting for is your core upgrade paired with the vertical support for the Edge Pro Apex, still not in stock yet at Gritomatic. I already have the slide guide and retractable magnet for my EP, but I really like the front support that your core upgrade provides. I have a few blades that try to rock forward on the table, even with the magnet. That front support is exactly what I need to stabilize those knives on the EP.

If you don't get it sorted, I can help you out a little later this year and make one for you. Just in the process of moving soon, so I won't be able to do anything until about fall time.
