So after 25 years of marriage my wife did something she hasn't done in all that time today.... a load of my laundry ~ I've always done my own laundry as I lived on my own for several years before getting married and with 4 young ones in the house, it was simply easier for me to do my own rather than have her do it ....

That's all fine and good though till she retired from teaching and decided to take my work jeans from the hook in the closet and wash them. The issue with this kind gesture was that my favorite runt was in the side leg pocket....

It's now drying on the blotter on my desk, but beyond the damage to the blade, the 'grain' is raised on the shade tree. Not sure I'll be able to return it to 'before wash' shape, but i'm willing to try - it was my favorite Runt...

The JouFuu sheath also took a beating. Didn't help matters any that the blade was left in the sheath all day ---

Now that the knife is back from the fiddleback spa and I got off my procrastinating tail and have my new Rick Lowe pocket slip, I wanted to post [after] pictures

The forge and Rick are not only craftsmen but also artists! Thank you all.

Call the FF folks and they may be able to fix it........They made it, so they'd be the best at trying to fix it.

I have extensive knowledge in this and judging by the photos it is unfortunately beyond repair. I feel for you and am willing to offer you $100 so you can replace it.

How very kind of you.

If it is beyond repair, I think I'll mount it to a plaque and place in the laundry room as a very obvious reminder to check/empty pockets.

Good thing it wasn't my grandpa's pocket watch !!

Clean it and use it. Just starting to look broken in.

if we can salvage jules's after a tsunami we can get that one back to looking good.

send it in and we will fix it up for you!

That'll buff right out. The shade tree will likely shrink once it dries out a little and if not, a hit with 600 or 800 sandpaper will take care of it. Lots of people like Flitz to remove the rusting (and what you have is mostly staining and not rusting) Just clean it up a bit and it'll be better than when it went into the washer.

Yeah, I honestly don't think it looks that bad, just a little surface rust. That will definitely polish out, try some simi chrome. I just polished out some rust last night from a Blind horse that I had left in the leather sheath. Even if it's stained, I can't imagine it affecting it's cutting ability. The handle though, I have no clue about, but it looks fine too.

Well Brian, that is a bummer, but only a short delay until it's back in your pocket. My thought would be to take Phillip up on the trip back to the Forge for reconditioning. Just one of those 4x, 1y things.

I don't get it. You buy the knife to look at or use? That's not even Sunday School wear on a user knife. Wool the rust off, oil or wax and put it back to work - kitchurbelliakin!

Builds character but still ready for action, just clean it up a bit. A little spa treatment is just what it needs.

Must of been fun at your Sunday school! Been shanking kids on the playground, Carl?

Absolutely get the beautiful Runt back to Cumming. Andy works miracles on tortured Fiddlebacks!
