Leather sheaths

Schrade-Walden 166 Buffalo Bill commemorative Bowie Knife with its unusual factory sheath.

Those sheaths were made for Schrade by some outfit in southern California; I can't quite come up with the name, but I think they are extinct. The sheaths were notorious for problems with the snaps ripping out. Edit: referring to the Buffalo Bill knife.

Don't really use a fixed blade much except during hunting season. Here are few of my favorites with their sheaths.

My 50 year old Buck 110 with it's original sheath. Had to be restitched and the snap wore out, replace with velcro.

This one is not mine. Seller: "A vintage Finnish 'Lapinpuukko' puukko knife manufactured by an unknown maker in the 1960s Finnish Lapland. The reindeer horn handle is engraved with a wolf profile. The fullered Kauhava-style steel blade has no markings. The half-horn half-leather sheath is engraved with typical Sami sceneries and it comes with a leather belt strap. The reverse of the sheath is marked with the owner's name and dated 1964." Very interesting sheath and knife.

Here's a 1967 Buck 110 with its sheath. One of my younger brothers gave it to me almost 10 years ago. I think he bought it for hunting while we were in high school, but it spent most of its life in one of his tool boxes.
