Leatherman Warranty Experience—not good

Could be, I am comparing it to my old leatherman wave (which is substantially better than the current version of the wave)
In all honesty I don’t own a Wave, but they are marginally cheaper here in the UK than a Swisstool. Given that all US products are sold for top dollar on this side of the pond, I imagine the price difference may be more marked in the States.

At any rate, both LT and Vic put out some excellent products and I support them both.

The Leatherman in store returns are easy. You hand them the knife/tool and they look at it and drop it in the trash and go get a new one. Sometimes the new one will be an upgrade. Literally no questions. Yes I know this is not an option for most people. I’ve always thought dropping them in the trash was weird but Other people have told me that they had the same experience.
 
I recently have an issue with my leatherman tool Juice S2. I sent it in and got a brand new updated model no questions. They took care of me several times this way never any issues. I would call them if your not happy with the service your received.

They don't let you see the secret chute in the trash bin that leads to the sorting machine which leads to the boxes which are then secretly routed thru an intricate system of conveyer belts and ramps to the really secret mailing room...there to be sent to their network of super secret sales agents which haul all those defective Leatherman tools across the country to be sold to unsuspecting swap meet attendees...or so I've been told
 
I used their customer service & warranty department once. Talked to them on the phone & through email. No problems whatsoever, well ecxept for the time differnce :)
