Hi!

2 weeks ago i sent my classic leatherman (psk) in for warranty repair, the tip of the knife broke.

So today i got a package in the mail, opened up and found a new in box Leatherman Kick.

Well, thats great, i guess they didnt have parts for the 18 year old Psk.

But when i checked out that brand new Kick, it didnt have close to all those features that my psk had.

If they are willing to replace the tool they should send one that has the same amount, or more tools than the one i sent in? Right?

What do you guys think? should i contact them and see what i can do or just stick with the Kick? I have a Leatherman Supertool so no big deal, but that Leatherman Kick is crap.

thanks

Honestly I've been seeing this reports a bit too often for my taste lately. Mostly ppl that I directed to LM in the first place or former coworkers. And a Buddy of mine is still waiting to hear from them even though it's been over a month now since he sent his tools in

The LM warranty states that they can replace it with another tool with equal or greater value.

I'm not sure of the price range of the old pst vs. a new kick, but I assume thats what they have done and its not based on the number of tools.

I thought it was to be replaced with a Blast. That's pretty crappy mate. I'd call them and voice your frustration.

I disagree though. If you buy a tool @ 25$ and it has 3 drivers, 2 blades and an awl and they give you a current tool @ 25$ with a measly set of pliers, a blade and 2 drivers, that's not a fair trade.

Plainly, if the model has not been made in some years and they are out of stock, all Leatherman can do is send what they have. A suggestion: sell off the Kick, gift it to someone or keep it as a spare, then look for a PST on e---y or some other trading site. There are plenty of good used ones around.

I sent them a mail, told them what i think of the handling of my warranty case.

I suggested that it should be replaced by a Blast instead.

I will update you guys when they get back to me.

If i dont get a Blast, the Kick is a great christmasgift ;)

Not trying to come across the wrong way so please don't take it like that. Nobody has to agree, its the way the warranty is and written.

should of bought a gerber the first time. they took care of me with no problems. I am happy for you that you got the one that you wanted.

Leatherman has great customer service.I have the old style wave and sent one back for warranty. I asked that they replace it with another old style if they had any left and they did. This was after I sent another one back,(another older wave) that they replaced with a newer one.

Good to hear you got your issue resolved w/ Leatherman. I use my Charge TTi everyday and definitely don't baby it. I haven't had any issues with it yet but it's nice to know that LM will take care of me if I do.

I shiped in my Charge Ti (first gen) for repair and got a brand new Charge TTi back! Couldn´t be happier!

They don't seem to bother with repairs. They probably go into a big pile for scrap. Just as easy for them to ship out a new one.
