Lee Reeves Axe. My answer to the "chopper"

Here ya go. The axe is 15" long and 6" from edge to edge. It's the perfect "pocket axe" IMHO. Of course I have not used it yet, but that will change soon

Would you believe they start at like 125? I watched him forge a couple at a hammer in here in s. Texas..he is an amazing artist..i watched him a while and just ordered one from him..i got a single bit with a black walnut handle..comes with a leather sheath well done. enjoy her brother she is a cutting machine..Later Luke

It's forged with 1084 carbon steel, and somthing else. It's on the card it came with. I'll look at it and let you know.

When I bought the two that I have they were 175 dollars and took a full year to get. that was 4 years ago though.

If I remember correctly the weigh about 1 1/4 lb. I waited about 12 months. Well worth the wait. :thumbup:

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I wanted it for referrence.

My question is, Lee offers a couple different handle materials (Ash, Osage Orange, Walnut, Fiddle-back Maple, and Cocobolo). Is there one that is functionally better than the others? Like, is one a stronger, more versatile wood? Or is it simply visual appeal?
