So on to the knife itself:

One of our larger distributors asked if there was something special we could produce in a 500 piece run for them We mentioned a high hardness 13C26 steel of which they liked very much.

They came back to us with wanting to do a variation of a Leek, and submitted this as dress up.

13C26 steel (64-65RC) w/black DLC coating, OD aluminum scales, liner lock. MSRP $84.95

Delivery will be 60 days or so. There has been no item # established at this time.

Did I miss something? Where is it?

...That one would be great to add to my huge hoard of Kershaws...( all 2 of 'em :p )...

It's currently getting its DLC coating on. Should ship hopefully this month. Dang you guys got good memories.

Cliff who?

Thomas, is there a special model number for this one? I want to go on and place a pre-order with the pharmacy, if I can. If they are unable to get them, can you give us the name of the distributor that will be handling them?

This will be my first leek!

Thanks!

Hmmm...prime time Saturday night...let's see...1660ODBLK...I believe that is right.

What I can't remember is if the $84.95 MSRP is correct.

The pharmacy I'm sure will be stocking it.

Who is this Cliff character again?

cliff is the annoying guy at the end of the bar that has all knowledge ever written memorized-every bar has one, most jobs also-come to think of it they appear to breed on the internet-lol

Any more info on this blade out there? How much better will this hardened steel be over the original?

I'd guess about 4 to 5 points. Reg. production is around 60 hrc. Sorry I read "better" as harder, my bad. Now I will guess that it will gain a great deal of edge stability (resistance to edge rolling, blunting, and a little harder to change edge angles, but still easy enough to sharpen) ease of sharpening will be due to less damage to the actual edge. Can't wait to get my hot little hands on this one! I was ready to pull the trigger on the damascus but not now!

I can personally vouch for the extreme user friendliness and edge keeping of a 64.5Rc 13C26 blade. Especially since I have a very unique and highly favored Storm II I was lucky enough to be given to test for Thomas. The thing is just awesome and still one of my favorite Kershaw knives.

Someone out there has good taste and I certainly have to put in my request for one at the Pharmacy if that one is coming. It will be a real winner I can tell ya that. I'm more excited about this one than I was the ZDP189 blade.

I read about several issues with ZDP Leek broken tip. Do you think Sandvik Leek is better?

It won't be much more delicate than reg. run of Sandvic and I'm guessing a lot tougher than ZDP, but keep in mind, it still is one of the most pointy tips on the market. Use discression.

I'm on the waiting list for this puppy!! STR, this will need one of your low rider clips! Walter
