If I had only one choice, I would purchase a left-handed Starmate because I like the thickness and utility of the blade (that and the Gunting is reportedly already coming in a left-handed version).
While it is true that I am able to open most knives with ease with my right hand, I still switch to my left hand for precision cutting tasks, then have to switch back to my right hand to close the blade - especially with liner locks. May not seem like a big deal, but it probably would become one if right handers had to go through the same efforts in a world in which the majority of their options were left-handed knives.
The left-handed Sebenza is great, but I value the light weight and construction of the Starmate (and Military for that matter). However, I've opted not to carry the latter two on a regular basis since I'd rather carry a knife made for a left-hander.
I am also writing this not because of the contest, but because I appreciate and applaud Spyderco's efforts to reach out to their customer base by soliciting their input.
