Lefties assemble

Lefty here. Mostly slip joints. Have a couple of lefty CRK's. Would never drop any serious coin on a righty frame or liner lock.

Lefty checking in.

I stick with Benchmade Axis locks or Spyderco back locks mostly - which are ambidextrous.

I have a few that are frame locks and liner locks but they don't get carried much.

And if the clip can't be put on the correct side, it's out all together. So there are many knives eliminated by just clip position choices alone.

I'll have to start a thread asking about this company when they arrive. I'm seeing some angst there. Is the 148 a copy of anything?

There have already been plenty of threads on that company, certain types are happy to support them, other people have scruples.

I'm a lefty but I carry and use knives for right-handed draw. I carry my firearm strong side (left) so I always keep my knife on my weak side (right). Works for me.

Another lefty - usually carry a BM 710, 730, 581, or PM2. Have large and small lefty Seb 21s... they're ok. Prefer the BMs or PM2.

I'm definitely a fan of the axis lock. Before I was "into" knives I just carried whatever was cool at Wally World. I remember a short love affair with the Gerber fastdraw in '08. I went into REI and got my first decent knife a bm 530. I remember throwing the pocket clip to the left side, throwing it in my pocket, taking it out and opening it with my left hand a couple times and thinking "this rocks." No going back after that. It's a shame that a lot of the leathermans are geared towards right handers.

I have never tried a "left handed" folder. After all these years of adapting I don't think I'd be comfortable with one. I do try to go with ambi models. If it's a knife with a clip, I won't buy it if it doesn't have a lefty clip option.

There have definitely been a few knives I let go (1st generation Stryker, torrent, etc) because they had no left hand clip option.

Lefty here as well. I find that most work ok for me. I stick mostly to Spyderco knives!

I am left-handed on some tasks, and right-handed on others. In general, tasks that are typically done sitting down (like writing), or that require circular motion, I do with my left-hand, while tasks that are typically done standing up or require linear motion or strength I do right-handed. Some things I can do comfortably with either hand.

When it comes to working with knives, I switch between hands, depending on what I'm doing with them. For that reason, I prefer knives that don't favor the use of one hand over another.

I'm all over the place. I do most of my cutting left handed, though I chop or use a machete right handed. On the other hand (pun intended) I find drawing, opening, closing, and putting away a folder left handed to be extremely awkward, so I carry folders on my right side, draw and open them right handed, then switch them over to my left hand for cutting. I then close and put them away with my right hand too.

Left hand dominant - I throw a ball and write left handed. Other things I only do right handed. Most things I'm ambi. For fine or detail work I usually use my left hand. I stay away from liner and frame locks (except a few liner locks on some of my traditionals). Benchmade axis locks and a few spydercos with BBL, also a sage 3. I carry my folders on the left but need them to be ambidextrous for work. My current EDC is a BM 300SN.... And a Vic deluxe tinker.... and a schrade 8OT.... and a BK 14.

I'm a Southpaw but unlike Odog, I do anything physical (like throwing/catching) right handed. Finesse moves (writing, eating, or cutting) is left handed. I have handled a left handed military and I found it awkward to close the liner lock. I have several slip joints, a Griptillian, a recently acquired Endura, and a Vantage. Overall, I find it much easier to flick open a knife right handed. My left thumb just isn't strong enough to flick it open. I was looking at some nice friction folders or autos but I think I will hold off for now.

Since this thread is drawing in a lot of southpaws, thought I toss this out. Many of you may already have seen him, but I just found him last month, a youtube knife review guy that uses the name "TheApostleP", and watching his videos I noticed he's left handed. Kind nice to see reviews and tests done by a southpaw.

I have learned to love standard frame locks. The way I hold a knife in my left hand means with a lefty frame lock I am putting a lot of force onto the lock bar, but none on a standard. I prefer a lefty liner lock, but those are few and far between for production knives. Sadly, we don't get many options.

Lefty here, I will buy and use as long as it is left side and tip up carry. I can figure out how to open and close it one handed. I am currently carrying a PM2, but also carry a 580 Barrage, 940 Osborne, Delica, and rarely a Spyderco Resiliance.
