Number four in a series of five numbered, engraved, ivory-handled Damascus knives, this Side-shell Hunting Dagger was made by John White, engraved by Joe Mason, and photographed by Jim Cooper.

The 12 inch blade is explosion-wrapped feather Damascus, and all fittings are multi-bar "W" Damascus. The take-down frame handle has carved Pre-Ban Ivory scales.

Joe Mason executed the bold, gold-inlayed and engraved embellishments on knife, sheath studs, and take-down tool cap.

John White also made the deerskin lined, African Blackwood sheath, which has horn throat and engraved Damascus studs.

The knife and sheath will be first shown at Blade 2013 in Atlanta the end of this month on a custom stand by John White.

Here are Jim Cooper's documenting photographs.

The knife, sheath, and take-down tool will be shown at Blade on a Bird'sEye Maple and African Blackwood stand.

Legacy Series #1, engraved by Joe Mason, was first shown at the Arkansas Show 2009, where it won "Best Art Knife."

Legacy Series #2, engraved by Brian Hochstrat, was first shown at Blade 2012, and was featured on the cover of Knives 2012.

Legacy Series #3, engraved by Joe Mason, was first shown at Blade 2011, where it won "Best Bowie."

Legacy Series #4, engraved by Joe Mason, has just been shown at Blade 2013, and has won "Best Damascus Knife" and "Best In Show."

This series, suggested by a patron and friend, in collaboration with fellow artisans, has been a great pleasure, and both a source and record of my development in this craft.

a little understated and a few too few adjectives, but certainly sums up for me :)

Blah blah blah blah...STUNNING! Your out doing yourself, John. Man that is just great! Really look forward to seeing this one. I hope this one's as successful as the last have been. Your sheath is stunning as well. The engraving compliments it very nicely.

Same as always John, I'm torn between trying harder and just throwing all my tools away in the nearest lake I can find. ;)
Amazing!
