Legal EDC Run!

I have all the knives drilled out and the scales are getting closer to being pre-shaped.

Next I'll grind the flats on all of them and crank up the heat treat oven!

Thanks!

I am doing heat treat today, the knives are currently in the oven for their first temper cycle.

Ready to heat treat.

Here is my heat treat area, the old shop! The big oven is to heat the blades for quench and the smaller one is mostly used for tempering. I use the turkey cookers to store and preheat my quench oils. I have two types of oil and am using both today, the 1084 blades require a fsat quench and the O1 blades need a slower yet somewhat fast quench. You can also see some Aluminum plates on the ground, they are used to quench air hardening steels.

In the tempering oven! They will get tempered twice for two hours.

Thanks! They are getting closer, I have the main bevel roughed in on all of them and am grinding more in a minute.

14 hours, 24 belts and 4 skinned knuckles later...

They actually have a little more grinding to go but they are getting close.

Look at this mess!

It was snowing, here's the view from the shop at the end of the day.

what are the 5th from the bottom love that light green. Are they glow scales also?

Those are Jade G10, they are translucent so they look pretty cool in my opinion. They don't glow but I once drilled some out and filled them with glow epoxy, it was a nice effect.

The set below them is the Jade G10 over orange liners, it has a kind of day glow effect.

Thanks guys!

Any updates on the progress Daniel?

I was in the shop until 11pm yesterday working on them and have 10 with the scales glued up! Two are in the tumbler and I expect to get the rest glued up today.

The epoxy will be full cured on the first 10 tomorrow so I'll start shaping the handles. After that I'll make the sheaths, sharpen them and they will be ready to go!
