Leroy Thompson (Tactical Knives) big disappointment!!

Im sure glad I stopped buying TK. More than one time they have done some strange stuff that makes you question the integrity.

I would demand Steve print an explanation in his editorial or the letters section. Not one of those silly 'fine print' corrections hidden in a spot most people never see.

Steve, most people here know you read these forums, so buck up and explain yourself.

For sure it sounds like Tactical Knives magazine's usual style! They messed around with my subscription and had no idea when I started to subscribe etc! It's a great magazine, but their support is the very worse- so I will never again subsribe to TK- or even buy a single issue.

I do not mind they kept the knives (I did not expect they would return them anyway). What I do not like is that I actually paid for other company advertizing. Since I do not subscribe TK I cannot tell but I THINK they (the other company) might have their ads in the magazine (they have in Blade).

The author's e-mail you printed claims he would either return the knives or purchase them. They're your knives, but to me this is just as bad or worse than misleading you into believing you would be listed as a supplier.Sorry this happend to you,I would not let it go,and ya I'm interested in a response from Steven Dick in regards to this claim.Take Care.

I just edited the initial post...

Just wanted to add I got another e-mail from Leroy explaining the situation. I now believe that he had nothing to do with changing the source of the knives. It looks like the editor - Steven Dick - did it because the other company has ads in TK magazine.

David

So basically he ripped you off, then SD made money again by lieing and accepting ad money?

So why did they not return the knives to you?

Boy we need people like this in the knife industry. Not. :barf:

I wonder if there are actual prosecutable crimes here. I guess we all
knew magazines are nothing but ad ho's anyway, but it's not pleasant
to get our noses rubbed in it.

If Leroy Thompson places my info in the other articles as he promised he can keep the knives. IMO Steven Dick knew exactly what he was doing since not all of those knives in the article are from me. For example the FB (Czech Paratrooper knife) is not from me (and now I see why it is pictured there even though the article is about autos). So he was not lying - he was telling only partial truth...

See it how you want to but it's still a lie....... "partial truth"???

I've heard tell that Mr. Dick is aptly named........ ;)

Steven Dick has read the thread but still no response.
(i just saw his name at the "currently viewing this thread" position at the bottom of the page)

wonder why....

If that is indeed the case then what Mr. Dick did was totally unacceptable. Putting another knife in the article so that the magazine could give this other distributor credit in the article is BS. Even if the other person was credited, you should have been given due credit as well.

Maybe this was just an error and Steven will print an apology in an upcoming issue. That would be the right thing to do, now lets see if Steven is going to do the right thing. Since he has read this thread, it sure would be good to get his take on this whole situation. As it sits right now, without his side of the story it looks like an open & shut case of advertiser whoring.

I got an e-mail from Steven Dick and Shirley Steffen (from Harris Publication) with an explanation what happened and we reached an agreement regarding a compensation for their error. I consider the case closed for now, the outcome of their promise should be in September issue of TK. Thank you all for your support - I feel better now

David

Good to see a possible positive outcome on this. I could not see how, by just ignoring the issue, S. D. could have expected anything but highly negative results. Truly a positive result of the internet and this forum in particular. Just imagine what the outcome might have been in pre-internet days. :D

All the very best,

Stuart

Ya gotta wonder, did SD/TK make an honest mistake? Or did it just occur to them that their little scam got exposed on the largest and probably most influential knife discussion forum on the web?

It would do some of these people well to finally get the message that in the knifeworld with Bladeforums around, you simply dont stand a chance of getting away with this type of crap.

Well I think it was an honest mistake ... As I said I was not the only supplier of the knives (I did not supply the FB)... They took full responsibility for the mistake and offered me IMO quite generous compensation. So at this point I am satisfied. The irony of the whole situation is that they actually (unknowlingly) promoted a company that almost run Mikov out of business. I just got back from Mikov yesterday and I still cannot believe what damage can be done in 3 years....
