By Texas Gun Person: These things will sell like twinkies at a fat man convention.

Twinkies is filing for bankruptcy.

I haven't seen the knives for myself..maybe camillus will do a good job on these and make them decent gifts for my friends..

I think i'll pass. Haven't bought a Camillus knife ever since they went to China/Japan. These knives are ugly anyway. Probably trying to compete with Gerber.
Same here. I won't be purchasing any of the current production Camillus knives, while the older, higher quality, USA-made ones are still out there.

I may just pick up the machete to see what the fuss is about.
It should be affordable, tough, and if I hate it, I can always give it away.:)

I wasn't really suprised when Gerber came out with the cheezy Bear Grylls knives seeing as Bear Grills was a bit questionable from the gitgo but Les Stroud come on your Helle Temgami ( I think that's how you spell it ) was legit and something a bonafide bushcrafter or survival enthusiest would be proud to carry and of all people you sell out to Camillus a once legendary American knife company that now is mearly just an importer of cheap run of the mill bargain bin blades this truely is IMO very disheartening. I suppose when given enough cash men will do just about anything I don't know if I can really blame him with a clear conscience if the name of the game is to make money your mainstream consumer really doesn't care about the orgin of manufactor of their product they just seem to wan't something nifty an very inexpensive.

I've been waiting for these. My kids need 'woods knives'.

might be in for a wait, i don't even think they have release dates yet.

when Spring hits, buy them what's on the market... i recommend.. Becker :)

So why does nobody mention the USMC Kabar (The non serrated)? I have packed one in the woods for twenty years and nothing else I have ever found comes close to taking the beating. Do I still buy other knives? Heck yeah. Will I buy these from Les? ermmm.... maybe the Helle someday, but not the new line. I did respect the person who mentioned his kids needed woods knives. Nothing wrong on a good middle of the road knife to start a kid out on and/or teach them blade respect. If I were looking for a knife to throw into my wife's car's emergency bag, a kids backpack (go boyscouts) or something like that I would look at the camillus line, but frankly I have that covered too.

Do I believe the line is about making money, sure. Do I believe that's all it's about? No. And let's be perfectly honest only a true knife nut takes a $200+ knife into the woods with them the two or three times a year they go into the woods (Or stay in a state park which is as close as many get and there's nothing wrong with that) Now those of us that are woods, water, AND knife nuts? Yeah I can see packing a $200 knife as my second to my kabar. After all the kabar is a beater for woods chores, the nice knife I can use to skin a squirrel, or fillet a fish. Right now I actually carry a USMC Kabar, and a Old Imperial Schrade sharpfinger that shaves without a problem, and together they get the job done. If it is going to be an extended stay a good axe or machete makes it into the gear pile as well.

Hah, at least he is going to get paid well from for his suffering in doing the Survivorman show...

Like I said I'm an fan of Les's TV Show.
Just remember, I believe we all have had our Heroes from time to time.
It's when we have Heroes that we really don't know well, other than the image that is presented to us and put them so high on a pedestal that we are doomed to disappointment when they fall off, finding out that they weren't what we thought they were.

As far as the knife goes: sight unseen, for the money, I'd buy a Becker and watch Les on TV. But that's just me. :)
