Qeth, have you tried inside-outside switch pullups, or whatever the proper name is (do a pullup with palms out, switch to an inside grip, let yourself down, pull up, switch grips, lather, rinse, repeat? I can't get the transition right. Seems to require explosive speed on the up, and good reaction and body awareness on the transition.

Straight pull up or with kip?

I'm not losing any weight.

But my muscle mass is growing and holy weeping frogs on a lily pad, my abs are back.

Now, I just need to find some ass. My ass starts at my shoulders and ends ay my calves. I suffer from Noassatall disease........

Moose

Squats are your friend. Glad to see you around, O Antlered One.

Well I am probably 3-4 months from pull ups again ..lol.

Qeth, it turns out, when they went in to operate, my labrum was completely detached from the bone. They said they arent sure how I had been using my arm at all. 4 screws and 8 straps now hold it in place.
Also wrecked my Glenohumeral ligament. Finally released to move it more though, and now its cracking like an old farm hands knuckles. Feels amazing though ..lol every pop is like, well its about as good as it gets with your pants on.
The release of pressure and breaking up of the scar tissue hurts when it happens but feels sooooo good afterward, I cant explain it.

I am going to assume that means that I am bionic and will be super human after the healing ..lol Dips used to be one of my favorite exercises. Dips, pull ups, push ups and lunges. Multiple positions helps the pull ups and push ups hit a HUGE area of muscles.

I WILL be back in the gym damnit !

Wow, your other muscles picked up the slack of the detached labrum? In any case, glad to hear you're mending and having, umm, fun with that release of pressure ;)

Thought I was gonna eff up the door frame...

Looks good to me! I tried it again today, and I can get the transition to inside grip, but can't seem to transition back to outside grip. Looks hard on that doorframe bar.

Yeah, I had trouble shooting my hands back into the proper grips on the moving pull up bar.

Here's an embedded vid of it.

Looks a little sluggish cuz I did these this morning:

Ooooh I am jealous of those of you can do pull ups! I've decided to start doing a little hanging from my fiance's pullup bar, and some negatives, to see what happens.

Moose - Squats and lunges are your friend!

and dang silverthorn, hope you heal quick!

Running a little behind, but I'm about to start my Week 6 C25K. It's freakin' dark out.

ETA: Okay, to hell with that. I opened the door, and there's a cold, steady rain falling. I've got three weeks to get caught up.

Since I hurt my back, yet again, I haven't been to the gym in almost two months. I did get back on the mats for some jits last night, and am feeling sore. I am hoping my doctor will tell me I can start training again. Weight hasn't gone up, thankfully because I have been *trying* to watch my intake. 248 and holding steady. Gotta stop being such a fatty if I want to compete effectively again.

Today is my 4th week of six days a week workouts and I am really starting to see a difference. I haven't lost many pounds yet, but my body fat % is down by 7% and I have come in 3 holes on my belt.. need to make a new hole actually.

Qeth, you make those muscle ups look so easy I started thinking "maybe I could do one of those".. lol. but seriously I doubt I could do one regular pull up right now.. :)

I'd take losing body fat % and tightening belts over a number on the scale :D

Thanks. You'll never know til you try it out.

When I was in college I got up to benching 420lbs, that was the max I ever did.. I was lifting everyday at that time was able to do like 27 pull ups, I would be happy for one now. :)

Managed a few switch grip pullups at the gym the other day. The muscle up isn't happening yet. I'd like to try rings though.

Made my goal weight of 175, total loss 36 pounds. It took me 6.5 months to do it once I made up my mind and I'm going to keep it off!

Despite the Becker Gathering, I still lost a little weight this week. Just broke the 190 barrier.
That's 34 pounds lost on My Fitness Pal. I lost 6 before I started the food logging. 40 pounds total.
Training for the 5K continues...

Great job, Guyon!

Haven't lost a darn lb. in about 2 years. Haven't gained, either, which is huge for me. I've been a lot more active. 8yr old daughter wants to run a 5K end of November, so I've been training for it. Done a mile every other day for about 2 weeks now, with a 1.5 mi dropped in once out of necessity.
Planning to bump it up to ~ 1.5 tomorrow.
My legs actually feel better when I run - that's never happened before.
at 6' 200lbs I'm not that worried about my weight - it was always more of a fitness and appearance (spare tire) thing. So, even without dropping an ounce I'm feeling better.

Now I need to get the daughter to start training. Says she wants to do it, but after about 1/4mi "my legs are tired. I have a side ache. Can we walk?" I'm sure, in competition, she could make a mile with me. But 3 is a lot for such little legs, and she's sometimes lacking in self-discipline. Will keep trying. If this 5K turns into a run-walk I may have to do another on my own to make sure I can.

So I learned that I can't run for very long without my knees starting to hurt real bad. But then again I could ride a bike forever and not feel anything in them. I don't know what to think of that

Running jolts the joints hard. If you must run, stay off of concrete. It's REALLY bad for your joints. Asphalt is a little better, but turf, grass, dirt, or a proper track are much better. Good running shoes are a must. I hate running, but sometimes you have to do it, ya know? Went and climbed today at the wall for the first time in months, and still managed a 5.12, a 5.11, 2 5.10s, and a 5.7 for funsies. Was glad my forearms hadn't lost as much as I thought they might have.
