Did okay on the diet yesterday, but paying bills and other paperwork took all my time; no chance for a walk.
This morning I did a full minute plank, 240 crunches, and 30 push-ups.
Then I rode my bike to work. It's only 6 miles each way, but it's better than sitting in traffic.

I can do sets of 25 chin ups, or 15 full length pull ups, for those who know the difference. I have gone from 36+inch waist 212 pounds at the gather that I attended, to 175 pounds and 30 inch waist jeans are loose.
Unfortunately, I just had to have a Contrast MRI and some other scans for my left shoulder. The doc thinks I might need surgery for blown cartilage. Thinking surgery might be great. If I can do 50 push ups and 25 chin ups on a blown left shoulder, imagine what I can do after its fixed ...lol

Those are awesome results, 15 full length pull ups @ 175 is pretty good with a good shoulder. On a blown shoulder? Fuuuuuuu....

6 miles to work in the Bay Area? That's a light commute! What city to you work in?

Today is the first day of Shakeology for me. When I get home tonight I'm planning on hitting the gym too.

I know it's short! Live and work in SJ, but drive past Santa Clara to do it. I used to work in SC, 1 exit away from home. 3 miles; I would get to work in 7 minutes. Now, at six miles, it can take 25 minutes (by car or bike, actually.) The bike ride is along the Guadalupe River trail, mostly along the length of the airport.
When they moved me from the Santa Clara office, I told them they doubled my commute. When I told 'em it went from 3 miles to 6, oddly, I got no sympathy. :)
Looks like I'll likely be transferring back in a couple months. Which isn't as good for my fitness plan, since there's no good, safe way to do that ride. But it'll sure help my disposition otherwise.

Here's my update:

Did paleo/ primal from March-July. Saw some nice aesthetic improvements, and, more importantly, performance improvements. Stopped early July, but didn't go back to my Asian diet of white rice 2-3x a day. I got so used to veggies that I've substituted mixed veggies for 90% of my rice, so my weight hasn't bounced back to what I started with.

I've been addicted to kettlebells for my primary workouts, with plyometrics thrown into the mix once or twice a week. I've only done the gym type lifting once or twice a month. I just got this bad boy and I can't wait to use it tomorrow:

Do they make a Darth Vader kettlebell? I would buy one of those, I think...

Or an Uncle E kettlebell! Imagine one of those!

I'd be all over a Mandalorian helmet 'bell.

There's another company that has a monkey (36 lb) and gorilla (72 lb) bells, too.

I really like the one from Demonbells, though. They have a nice design feature on the rear and sides that make it more comfortable for snatches and presses. I have a generic 45# kettlebell, and the 54# demonbell feels much more comfortable on longer sets. Less wrist fatigue and forearm bruising. The ones pictured above (from Onnit) seem like the bump on the rear of the head would make for some awkward snatches.

For those of you not as nerdy:

Vercopa: wish, dream

tal'onidir: idiom for going that extra mile or making an all-out effort

A 72 lb Mandalorian styled heavy helmet would be awesome, a 35 lb Fett styled or a mythosaur skull would be cool too. Disney, get on that!

When exercising a lot don't go to much by your weight, when I train clients I don't allow them to weigh themselves more then once a month. The reason being muscle weighs so much more then fat so when your gaining muscle, you may be losing fat but your weight may not change. Some people even gain weight because their muscle goes up so much and then get discouraged only to find out their body fat % is way lower. The best thing to go by besides looks and how you feel is to get a measuring tape and do all different parts of your body like arms, waist, chest, thighs, calves and then check yourself every few weeks. Unless your only dieting without any strenuous exercise then you can go by weight and it's more accurate. Just thought I'd throw that out there for you guys because I've seen many people who are doing very well get discouraged and give up because the scale doesn't show what they feel it should, don't let that happen to you just stick with it and stay away from scales.

Haven't been doing my push-ups lately. I could still knock out 60 before the pain in my shoulder becomes so bad I can't do any more, even though I know I can. It sucks.

Today 280 push ups , 60 pull ups & some weights I don't feel like counting.
+1 to what killinumsoftly said.

Alrighttt guys! So I know im young an all, and you probably dont wanna hear it ;D But growing up I always felt really skinny, and I was always so self conscious, I couldnt gain any muscle and it just sucked. About six months ago I started doing calisthenics training, which is all bars. Got a diet together, and made a routine. I have a really fast metabolism and a very skinny body type, but I have made alotttt of progress, and im very proud of it. Here is some before and after pictures!
Here is the before picture,

Now, I can do handstand pushups, almost 30 pullups straight without stopping, 100 pushups at a time, leg raises on bars, and the absolute hardest thing, was doing a muscle up. I kinda made it a goal to be able to do a muscle up, and I finally can! Its been hard paying my own bills and jeeping a job that pays for my own place biing seventeen, but training and seeing progress is what has kept me at it. If you go to youtube and check out the "Bar brothers" that is basically what I have been training for. Im glad you guys made a fitness thread, thanks for lookin!

muscleups. nice.

how many d**k ups? :) lol, just kidding! nobody can do more than five anyway.

now, kettlebells?

Hahaha. Anddd, I have actually never used kettle bells except for somr boxing stuff and they were pretty light ones. I have been wanting to try pistol squats with kettle bells for awhile though! Man, thosr kettle bells up there^^ are sweet though" but they seem pretty pricey:0

Did the Rx'd WOD this morning, but this evening I had some juice left and tried a quick and dirty, WOD style kettlebell routine that I've put together. I've been meaning to try it out for a while now.

3 times through, no rest.

5 minutes (or less if you don't faf around like I did looking up the next move). The push ups could probably could do without the bell.

I passed my halfway mark on the weight loss. I'm also training for a 5K using the Zen Labs Couch to 5K program.
