Lessons Learned the Hard Way

Man,I hope this works out for you,its a shame you got scammed,I just hate people who do this to others.I pay with postal m/o only, and am very picky ,usually i can spot em',so far no bad deals.GOOD LUCK!

he he we will be going again. But I have a few other ways to get him. Peterhead sucks bigtime... but I *HATE* to see a fellow Bucknut and friend get shafted... wont allow that to happen...ever
Ya just got to wonder and question an auction from someone from Peterhead! Would YOU make a bid on a knife from a peckerhead from Peterhead???:jerkit:

I have a few bucks and not a big buck collector but I wish I was in the same neighborhood to be able to assit Maverick in some small way.

IF I could, I'd go with Mav. I am certain I am not alone in stating that John.
You are one of the best and it is wrong for that to happen to anyone.

...Gooser is speaking for a whole bunch of us JB...I think you know that...

Hi guys,

We all do what we can for each other. Each of us would like to be able to see justice done the correct way; if that is possible. The reason for this post was to help educate all who read this post. Hopefully to stop someone from making the same mistake.

I enjoy collecting Buck knives, BCCI, Blade forums and most of all you guys here at the Buck forum. Remember all you have to do is ask....if I can help any of you I will.

The little lady hates Buck knives now...and the whole collecting gig because of this incident.

Keep the faith

Thanks for the education JB. I've heard of these things happening but it seems more real now that it happened to one of us. Hopefully Mav can pull through with something.

Thats why we are all trying to help you John... tell your "little lady" not to worry... you have a lot of freinds...

If you are going to be a criminal, it seems like electronic fraud is the way to go. No one seems the least bit interested in trying to catch or prosecute these low lifes.

Over the holidays, someone fraudulently charged my Paypal account $650.00. I was fortunate to see it. PayPal did credit my account, so I wasn't out anything.

What surprised me is that PayPal did nothing to try to find who did it. They sent an email to the person to whom the funds were transfered, but the transferee never replied, and that was case closed.

I called my State Attorney General, they said file a report with your local police. I happened to be at the police station a few days later with some other business, they said they would take the report, but they wouldn't act on it.

All in all, it sounds like these guys can operate with no fear of being caught or punished.

About a year ago, I got a $29.95 charge on my VISA account, from PLUTO D in Nicosia, Cyprus. No idea who it was. There was a phone number on the statement, so I called it. Some management service...I don't need no stinking management service! :grumpy:

I went online and found out PLUTO D was the holder of a long stream of complaints, investigations, lawsuits, etc. VISA cancelled that CC and issued a new one, and retracted the charge.

Very sly dude...$29.95 seems to be the average for any credit card purchase...If he hadn't used the name PLUTO D, I probably wouldn't have noticed for quite a while... :(

About a month ago someone hacked into my Ebay account, changed my password, changed all my auctions to "buy it now" then listed several dozen designer clothes, and put his paypal address in as payee. Luckily it was caught and corrected before anyone bid. Nothing happened to him as far as I know, but it made my life miserable for a few days.

Sorry to hear about this John.
Tell the wife that it is not the collecting that is the problem
but a crook who is taking advantage of us collectors.

You and the wife keep the faith and goog luck.

John,
I just read the threads...How frustrating!!!:grumpy: I have been scammed before myself, not for that much money, but the feeling is the same. You try to do right by people and hope/expect the same in return so when something like this happens...Frustrating!!!!!
I hope Mav can help somehow, what a guy to offer!!

Chuckles at the "most" portion of the post John.

It really is too sad that this happened to you.
Certainly can understand how the wife feels. My suggestion is that maybe you invite us to a crab and cioppino feed at the house. Then she can see first hand the nice peeps that we are. Sirusly, if we all lived close enough, it could be a fund raiser by donation to recoup your significant hunk of change.

Hoping that she knows this situation is a auction dude and not one of your peer peeps from the Forum.

I think about what was done to you often John and it Sirusly blows chunks.

Hay...All of you guys,

Thanks for the support. When I started this thread it was not meant to get sympathy...not at all. I wanted to make a warning statement....Buyer's beware; was the point. Now.....we all spend time here writing, reading and learning from each other and enjoying the comradery. We've all become members of the Buck family...in a way. So thank you for the heart felt frustration you all have expressed over this incident. When someone we know gets burned we all feel a little burned.

I just want to make sure none of my Buck family here gets themselves' in a similar situation. Learn from my dumb ass....if you put your head in a Lyons mouth he just mite bite it off....if you get my drift.

Now....my...our mate Mav AKA John has gone above and beyond what I would expect a member of my DNA strand family to do for me. This guy is tops....he's been on this for weeks and has been all over the UK, Trying to find this guy on the phone, and working with the cop's. This is why I'm proud to be a member of this forum and part of the Buck family here. We have the best the world has to offer right here. Thank you Mav for who you are and what you have done for me.

Hey John... its been a pleasure. Not over yet tho :) I am expecting a call on Monday from the Police who have contacted Tiscali (his ISP) and *hopefully* will be getting his *real* address...
