Lessons with Tai Goo

Thanks for the pix Dean.

I sometimes forget how fortunate I am to have the house and land at the end of Windy Lou... it's some pretty lush desert out here... good place for me to call home. :)

Nice work. I really like Tucson I have a friend that lives out there and I usually visit every spring. Maybe this coming spring when I come out I can stop by and visit the forge.

The knife is fantastic and you made a watch to go with it!:D Sorry couldn't resist! Really love the knife though!

Very cool. Hey Tai.....I like the brick floor in the shop, but is that a window unit air conditioner you have rigged up behind you in the pic? For SHAME!!!:D

Burton, when you come out definitely give me a jingle and maybe we can get together for a visit.

Joe, it's an evaporative cooler (or swamp cooler). It's a cheap way to cool the open air shop in the summers.

John,... Todd, Jeff and I are in the process of putting together a series of videos for bladesmiths. We just recently finished shooting video #1, and Todd's working on the editing. We hope to have it ready to release by the first of the year. The way it stands right now, main feature of video #1., will be on "Hot Forging Basics for the Bladesmith",... taking a heat, bending, cutting, punching, twisting, drawing, upsetting, changing cross section geometry, forging points, and shouldering for tangs. It will also have two bonus features, "knife sharpening" with some cutting demos and some "bloopers". After Todd finishes editing what we have we'll look at it and decide if we need to add anything or cut anything out.

Anyone who’s interested in getting a copy of video #1., email me your email address and a note. I’ll start a list and contact you as soon as it's ready.

That's not a black eye in the pic,... just a little soot around the eye. :D LOL

Nice job, Dean! I really like that knife.

Thanks for the pics of Tai's shop, as well. I really miss Arizona sometimes (like right now!!!)

Awesome! Nice view, and that road looks like it can be a lot of fun with a dirt bike.

It helps so much when you have someone to teach you.
