Let’s See Your Pictorials!

Lol. Didn't you read why I was shirtless? I lost it in the trade. :D

I'm glad you found this thread Brett! :D

Brett I was so sad to hear you lost that shirt. Maybe we can get a pool going here to buy you another one! :D

Not sure if this is a pictorial. It belonged to my dad. I wasn't a knife guy when he was alive, so took no interest when he sometimes pulled out a small knife to cut some food. He passed away in 1995, and earlier this year I found this knife in a box of old things. It's not what I remember him using though.

Blee, that is a great knife with a fantastic story behind it, thanks for sharing both

Jack, maybe a pictorial/logo thread?

I think there's an existing advertising knife thread, I have a few of those myself. Be good to see it pop up again (or a new one)

I have a few more that I will post up tomorrow.

Excellent, look forward to seeing the others my friend

Here's one I recently sent to our resident Scottish bobby :)

I have a picture of a peanut that isn't a peanut. Not my knife, the owner wanted way too much for it. It's funny, I can still feel the grinding as I opened it.....

Great topic for a thread Jack - because they ARE out there! - our local auction site usually has them, Canadian Mounted Police, - cowboy themes etc - some that come up are in quite good nick!!
There have been some great ones posted - I like the Barlow by flatbackcapo!

Thanks Duncan, I gave ADEE a handful of Richards knives a few weeks ago, including a Mountie. The knives were in a bit of a state, but he loves em like that! :D One of their Africa knives was in better nick, and I think he has a few of those. Hopefully he'll be along to share soon :)

found them in antique shop this summer (Toledo type folder is very similar to my first knife :) )

Thanks Gev (and flatblackcapo). I'll provide a little more info. My father came to America when he was 19 years old. He had to leave his family (wife and son) in China to look for better opportunities here. That would have been about 1938, close to the time of the Exposition, so the knife may have been one of the first things he bought here. He got drafted into the army and fought in WWII (Italy) and was injured. That gave him citizenship and enabled him to bring his family over, and was the reason I was born in San Francisco.

A great story of triumph Bob! Thanks for sharing:D

This is kind of a weird, but wonderful, thread! I remember seeing knives like the ones appearing here when I was growing up back in the 1950's and 60's, but I don't own any.

A very colourful series of images so far. Mine are less so.

Great stuff guys  That Hoover is a classic ADEE  I know you have some more knives you can post here my friend! :D

Last one I have to contribute to this thread. I wonder if GEC or another maker of quality slipjoint knives could be persuaded to make something like this in the future.

Classic

That'd be interesting wouldn't it? 'Charlie The Viking'? ;)

My first knife was a Pictorial, a Richards Little Chief, but I've never seen another.

I'm afraid the quality of these images isn't good.

Facinating catologue images Jack.
A couple more picture knives from me but I am running out now.

Thanks ADEE, I thought you had some more of those Africa knives?

Interesting knives, the Red Ryder brings back a lot of memories from the late 50's.
