Let’s talk knife oil

Any particular reason you don't like mineral oil? I too live in the swamps of the gulf coast and it has been doing well for the last year or so.
Some of the non food safe alternatives dry quicker and cleaner while still offering solid protection and I was just trying to find a food safe option that mimicked that.
Mineral oil works fine, and I've used it to good effect on knives I knew would be used for snacking, I just much prefer the cleaner application of some other products.

I want my cake and am hungry for it too is all.

Hopefully the KPL offering fits the bill.

Living in the swamp, within walking distance of the gulf, and most of the year at 263% humidity I usually use a bit of something. I've been wanting a food safe alternative that wasn't mineral oil though.
That sounds kinda like where I live in central Florida. Every single day for 3 months during the summer, it is very wet. I have some D2 knives that used to get rust spots every time I took them outdoors during the summer. But I've had no rust since I started treated them with Frog Lube about every six months. Burt's Bees Lip Balm has also done extremely well in tests, but I have not tried it. Both Burt's Bees and Frog Lube are food safe.

BreakFree CLP for all my blades. I rinse off the blade first if I'm doing food prep. For long term storage, plain old Vaseline works well and is food safe.

If I was going to use a knife for food that had Break Free on it, I would clean the blade with alcohol first and then oil it with mineral oil. I don't think that a water rinse would do the trick.

what oil do you use the wipe down the blade and/or use to lubricate.
Almost at the same time, Enrique Pena and Jason from Promethius Lights (darksucks) recommended 10 weight Nano lube for their knives and flashlight threads. I don't pay 25 bucks for dribbles of lube, and have theoretical concerns about nano anything in the wild, but I did on the strength of their recomendations. It works fine and I still have air, pure silicon, synthetic motor oil, reel oil, RemOil, etc, to make it go farther.

Is there any problem with RemOil spray? I have some and was planning on using it, but was wondering on others thoughts.

Been using this stuff. Got a 2 pack on the bidding site. Going to last forever. Works well for me. If its good enough for a fishing reel its perfectly fine for a knife pivot.

RemOil will be fine I would imagine. IIRC, Microtech recommends it for their OTF's. I believe that any oil is better than no oil. I have some Damascus knives that were made in Pakistan that don't have a speck of rust on them. For the first 10 or so years of owning them all I put on them was regular motor oil.

wow, RemOil for their OTF's...

No, as has been said just wipe it /wash it down before food prep, and reapply to pivot after using and cleaning. Do not own non-stainless so never waste on blades.

Haven't noticed any symptoms so far, but that may be a good idea. In the field I usually rely on Vaseline, which is food safe.

I use Japanese Camelia oil. It's food safe and the Japanese have been using it for about 1,000 years, so I figure it must be okay. :)

Hornady One Shot is what I use for long term storage on my guns and knives. No muss, no fuss.

I used to use mineral oil but prefer Super Lube now. Mineral oil with PTFE, stays put better and is food safe

Super Lube with PTFE is great at lubrication and works better than plain mineral oil, but it has Teflon (PTFE) which if heated high enough (over 570f, 300c) it becomes a really nasty breathable ingestible toxin.
