Let’s talk knife oil

Super Lube with PTFE is great at lubrication and works better than plain mineral oil, but it has Teflon (PTFE) which if heated high enough (over 570f, 300c) it becomes a really nasty breathable ingestible tlioxin.
Those temps would also ruin the temper and destroy most cover materials so I'm not too concerned.

Most people are concerned about the food being cooked, not the knife being cooked.
Absolutely negligible amounts will be transferred to food and most food is not cooked at 300C. Just not a reasonable concern. The only food I can think of that gets anywhere near a surface that hot is searing meat, and then you have more pressing concerns like PAHs and HCAs

I don't even know that PFOAs are involved in the production of PTFE nanoparticles or if it's specific to coatings, and that's the major concern for cooking.

By the way, cooking oil also produces toxins when heated to 300C. Is it not food safe?
