Does anyone else wish Buck would add the 112 to the Custom Shop "Build your own" offer along with the 110??

I would love to have a 112 with silver/nickel, a 154cm blade, & amber jigged bone.

I'm thinking of writing a letter to the Chuck Buck himself. I did send a email to the help desk (I guess) and got the reply that they only use 154cm on their higher-end knives.

Anyway, if you would be interested in the 112 being added to the CS "Build your own" reply to this thread and lets build up some numbers so Buck can see that there is an interest.

Flatlander1963: My knife buying self control is low enough the way it is. Please don't do this to me.

there have been quite an number of folks ask for a custom 112 ...
i dont know if they ever will offer the 112 as a custom shop knife...
bucksway and quite others collect that model ...
posting here is one way to let them know...
email is another ...but
NEVER NEVER
underestmate the power of a
REAL letter that can be put on some ones desk !!
so if you bucksway and others wright in
who knows!!
i have not seen a display of 112's at the shows i have been to..
that makes a diff also..
more displaying at the shows also can have influence
there will be at least one showing the 112 at lakeland florida!
because i seen so few 112 at the shows i went to
i was going to do a matching 110 & 112 display !!
that is untell my brother started collecting them!

We already have the 110......which is so close to the 112 that some people can't even tell the difference.

For more variety and to satisfy a wider audience, add the "discontinued" Model 120 General to the Custom Shoppe offerings.

A big Bowie would be a more significant addition than a small folder that is almost identical to the one already offered.

Well for me the size difference is enough to matter. I will carry my 112s in my pocket. The extra size/weight of the 110 usually means on the belt. I also like the looks of the 112's blade at 3 inches. But that me.

But I would love to see all of the 100 series offered in the Custom Shop.

Put me on the list for the 112, 120, 560....   ... We need some nice C/S 112s... :D ... Come on Chuck, try it let us have some 112s... It's only money... :D  :D

I still say they should open "Ye Olde China Custom Shoppe" where most of the labor intensive work would be done in China and the finishing touches placed by the Idaho folks.

Think of the ultra-fine customs and the huge number of variations and materials that could be offered with that inexpensive but talented labor.

This would go along with farming out most of the warranty and repair to China.

I can't imagine why they haven't taken these steps already.

I would love to see some USA Custom Shoppe 112 folders!
I would buy at least two.

中華民國,你絕對不知道什麼地獄,你所談論的!

The custom shop Buck has now may be marginaly profitable, adding more models might make it less so..More stock, employees, floor space ect.would be required.I know there is a pentup demand for 112s and others now,but what about after the first rush? In a old thread I read few CS 112s were ordered when you could get them....I would order 3-4 but after that mabe only one every 3-4 months or even 6-8 months [USN pension not genorus ] and I am a big 112 fan and cheerleader! If Buck caint make money on it..they cant do it.. I think there is a way Buck could supply some of the demand for a CS112 tho..LOTS MORE LEs !!!!! How about 500 in BG42 and stag??They would be gone quick! all Buck has to do is look at the most popular/fast selling 110s and do it in a 112... I now belive there will not be a CS 112 for any time soon..I still Hope and have Visa ready!! I will say you can get Leroy[rrr] to make you one up any way you want it..The hardest/most expensive thing to make would be a 112 with premium blade steel..You can get a customized 112 But not from Post Falls..

I've said before that the only addition I think would make sense from Buck's perspective is to add the 119 as the fixed blade option. That way the most popular fixed blade and folder are custom options.

Is that two a year???? ????
It depends upon what options were available....
I would like some 112's with....

Walnut, nickle-silver, and S30V

Stag, nickle-silver, and S30V

Smooth water-buffalo horn, nickle-silver, and S30V

Jigged water-buffalo horn, brass, and S30V

Rosewood, brass, and S30V (an Alaskan Guide 112)

And maybe oak, brass, and S30V

Not all at once, but I could manage a couple a year.

Well another option is a sprint run on their current 112 production line. I'd be delighted with just a 154cm or S30V blade on my knife and all else could stay the same. I can't see how that would be problem. They could sell it right off their internet home site like all their other offerings until its out of stock and then do another or expand the scale offered etc.

I have this gut feel that the marketing team is against it...don't know.

Option #2 is offer a 154cm replacement blade for those of us that have numberous 112s...send it in and it comes back with a new high end blade. I'd pay for that anyday too.

And I like all of Allens suggestions.

Joe got Buck to make a small run[apox 100 ] BG42 112 blades a few years back. For 35.00 [?] he would replace the blade on your knife you sent in....They went quick! In fact I need one for my rare/odd 112 collection since it was a 'factory' mod...I would hope something like that could happen again! "Custom shop" questions I think are a area that Buck dosent want to get into right now with us on the forum because they are seriously considering Major changes....Thats just a guess...I hope it expands!!!

What Flatlander said. I would love some custom 112 offerings to go along with my custom 110s'. Just imagine a nice Sambar Stag 112 with a BG-42 blade. :)

No, I'm not kidding.

I don't kid. Ye Olde China Custom Shoppe would work.

Anybody with an IQ that's even close to three digits knows that fine knives can be made anywhere.

If they can be made at a reasonable cost and sold for a good profit at a reasonable price.....everybody wins.

All you need are talented people and high standards. Insist that they produce the best or no deal.

Test the knives to make sure they're the best.

This is not rocket science.
