The Viking in me said do it so I will post the start to finish. The hatchet head is Indian. I have had it since new 10 years. Broke the handle years ago and used it as a wedge. It's taken a beating, thought it would break many times. I think I left it in a dogwood stump for a year. Hung it on a hatchet handle a while back but I think she has earned the right to be a cool axe.

Hammer your flat Turner in there on each side as pry. The wedge will pop out. If you got one of those circle deals? May God have mercy on your soul (they pop out eventually).

Grab the bottom with your vise grippers as break the seal. I knock the handle from the butt through the top because I got a B in geometry.

Time to work on my wood. I have these gun barrel vise shivers as they work great at holding handles. I drilled and inserted some of those neodidleum magnets for sticking to the vise jaw and what not

As you can see I didn't have much respect for the English language (although it's better than the metric ones). My wife actually has a college degree in reading old books. She spends her time rolling her eyes at her prize husband.

Now this is some delicate work. Don't think that because you saw some guy on the internet do it that you can. The sure form plain in using shouldn't be issued by anyone who is anewb.

Who knew that under his rugged appearance (and burly rasp-like language) we had a gem visiting our forum, and not a natural troll :)? This is the 2nd excellent thread so far from you, I knew it :).

We are back. My camera broke so I had to draw a picture of the progress. Should be back up and running soon

Glad you drew some tape on that edge so it didn't cut your drawing paper.

Ok, right now she is good and stuck. Happens to the best of us. I'm afraid the wood is going to split if I keep using the punch. I'm going to have to take my drift and thin it down a good bit. I can make another drift out of my leftover barstock. See my drift thread I started.

Drilling the inside hole doesn't receive any pressure but that's what I have done. Then insert a Philips screw turner ave rock it around to loosen. With a step wedge they pop when you get your flat screw turner to engage the first step.
