Natural Micarta. Spalted wood looks better, but is prone to breakage...
 
What do you think, Natural Micarta or some Spalted "Something er other"? Not sure they'll fit yet, blade is in the oven tempering.

Very cool looking blade John, that's going to be one nice looking knife. Stabilized spalted Maple granted isn't as strong as micarta or G-10, but I really don't see cracking for any reason. It should be some pretty tough stuff I would think.

If this piece was from K&G I wouldn't hesitate. I got this at a show and am trying to remember the company's name to research their process. They were out of either Lolo or Hamilton Montana I think.
