Let's Have An Auction for Ray!

You guys are awesome.
I wish i could make a knife to donate.

I hope I'm not outta line, but rfrink, why don't you donate your grinder to Ray to use in his shop?

I was just speachless, when I saw Ray's post. When I arrived at the shop that morning I just stood there at the door looking in and tried to imagine how it must feel to lose it all. I could not imagine. I want to see Ray back up and running. Count me in on the knife auction. I would be happy to send one of my Bowies. Great idea guys. Lets all pull together on this one and get Ray back in the shop. Fred

What about an address to send a money order to. Some people may be able to give $5, $10 or $20 dollars to help but cant afford to buy a knife.

I would also like to donate a knife. This is for a good cause and should fill in the blanks that the insurance company wont cover. It could also help pay the bills while he cant forge and make an income.

love ya bro

I'm definitly in on this one.Started designing a knife last night.I also think someone out that way should set up an account to accept donations. If I had Ray's address,I'd send him a check today.

Ok where do I sign up?
I will donate two "Compliance ll" Custom blades to the cause:D
DAMN do I need a new grinder so count on a bid for the KMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss Ray.

Hopefully this knife and sheath will bring a few dollars to help you recoup.

Try to stay positive, it will all work out,
Dave

Jeez, Dave, I would think you could get a "few bucks" for that one! You guys are great! Now I just have to get grinding so I can contribute..

Ray, Chuck, Nick,

Count on me for something. I am not sure what I can do right at the moment But will get something done by the time the auction rolls around.

Nowhere near the level of any of you guys but helping a good cause will be my pleasure. Can't wait for the auction to start. It will be my knife budget for August.Prayers already said for Dave and family.Oh,yeah.Will there be any fixed blades? :)

I have recieved a couple of checks and cash donations from other folks at my home addess. I'm just collecting up the money for a couple weeks and will buy Ray a Home Depot or Lowes gift certificate (whichever he prefers) with whatever folks send. If anyone wants to send money for that, here is my address:

Dave Larsen
920 40th Street
Des Moines, IA 50312

If you send a check please make it out to me so I can deposit it! I'll have to pay for it with my own check.

Also, if you want to send money via PayPal, I think Ray has an account and he might be willing to give you the info if you ask him. Otherwise, anyone can send money to my PayPall account at dclarsen*@mchsi.com (take out the *) with a Subject of RAY'S AUCTION and I'll add it to the funds for the gift certificate.

I will respond to everyone who sends money in any manner, via email, so please be sure to include your email address in any correspondence.

When I send the card to Ray I'll list everyone who contributed; if you want me to list the amount say so and I'll do that too. I don't know how to assure you folks that all the money will go to Ray except to tell you here - it all will.

If anyone has an idea how to audit me on this I will gladly accept their offer, I want to make sure everyone is confident that their donations will go 100% to Ray.

Thanks to everyone for their generosity. You're making me feel good; it sure is great to be a small part of this fantasic community.

Man that really sucks! I don't know Ray other than through the forums but I am definitely in on donating a knife. My knives are on their way back to me from the Knifemaker's guild show but I am going to pick at least one out and send it out.

I couldn't believe those pics of what was left of his shop. That's just unbelievable.

Hope things start looking up real soon for you Ray.

Sean

Dave- I trust you 100%, but it may be a good idea to come up with some sort of audit system, just so no one else can come back later and make issues.

It seems horrible to say such a thing, but just ask Chuck about what happened when Bob Engnath passed away.

-Nick-

I agree Nick, I sure don't want any hard feelings from anyone on this. I'm open to all ideas. I think I'll photocopy all the checks at least, but that would cover any lost ones.

Sean how was the show? Did you apply for membership to the Guild? Thanks for offering the knife! We'll get info out soon on how/where to send them.
