Lets see all your knife LANYARDS!

I like it, I think I'm going to get a bead and try it out.

Totally off but....that's one of the greatest sig-pics I've seen.

Had two at one time a while back. Love 'em--you know what I mean. The Ovcharkas kept wanting to eat 'em though.

Best......

These days, the only knives that I put lanyards on are those that can use a little helps with extracting the blade - typically a fixed blade that sits deep in its sheath, like this Bark River Bravo-1 in a bushcraft-style sheath:

Pretty simple, really - it's a variation of a "Chris Reeve" (aka, hangman's) knot.

That's the reason I do most of the time, the other reason is as basically a handle extension on shorter handled fixed blades. As a matter of fact, I JUST put this on this JoshRG Bird N Trout I received today. I plan on getting a bead or doing a little fancier knot at some point, but this will do for now

Handle extension example...

This one acts as both...

I like putting lanyards on things. I don't know how useful they are for me on folding knives though. On a fixed blade I like the pinky lanyard so you can choke down on the handle for more reach and power in chopping. Also to secure the blade from dropping. An example is one time we had a huge down poor. The drain in front of our house was totally clogged with leaves and stuff. I always of my SOG Seal team nearby when downstairs. It was the first thing I grabbed to run out into the down poor and unclog the drain. I could have easily seen losing the knife in the wetness and rushing water. Had a wrist lanyard on so I wouldn't drop the knife in the drain.

I use a longer lanyard on my Benchmade Triage to more securely keep the blade in the handle. Love the Axis lock but don't like the weak detent. The triage being a water friendly knife, it some times goes places where it will be more jostled and may not be able to put the spine of the blade against the seem of a pocket.
