We've got threads with tons of wonderful photos of stockmans, cattle knives, fixed blades, and others, but no thread for copperheads to be seen in! The little copperhead is one of my favorite patterns, like a miniaturized folding hunter. Two from Queen, one 41L in CSB, one 41 stag, and one Bulldog and one Henckels branded.

Copperheads are one of the great looking models that have not made it to my collection, or let me reword that, I mean none at the moment...

Great looking knives Phil,

It looks like you hand picked every knife there with those fantastic looking handles. Very nice...

Thanks,

Sunburst

Phil in Alabama,
sunburst is right, those knives all complement each other with those gorgeous scales!. Something tells me you like Stag & Bone-Stag.. :D BTW, is that one Queen Copperhead~Copperlock have carbon steel or stainless?

OK, I'll play a little as I don't have many of these, but a mere precious few lying about somewheres around here..

This one, a Queen in D-2 steel and Abalone was in a recent thread on my recommendation and gentle prodding for a recent convert(hopefully:)) to our ranks here in the 'traditional folders and fixed blade' forum.

Very nice abalone Queen there! Thanks for the compliments guys. I buy most of my knives from individuals and local dealers, where I get to see 'em up close before buying, so I get to choose some nice ones. Both of the Queens are D2, the Henckels is stainless and the Bulldog is carbon. I really love the Queen traditionals, one of the very few standard line knives that come with a premium steel. I wish Queen would make some more two bladed copperheads, preferably in the D2. I traded off one older jigged Delrin Queen with stainless blades, if it had been stag or bonestag, I'd have kept it. ps one of my "local knife dealers" happens to be PG Quick, pgquickco on Ebay. Lucky me, yes indeed. :) There's another great shop up the road in Hartselle, owned by an older gentleman, he won't do any Ebaying or electronic selling, too much trouble for him. But I can be there in 30 minutes, and I've been in there so many times they just about have what I'm looking for laid out in advance..............:p

You are so fortunate to have knife dealers anywhere near by your home. I live in an area where the only places to get anything traditional is at Bass Pro Shops in Fort Lauderdale and that is the better part of a (2) hour trip down south of me. Oh well, maybe perhaps some day.. The Queens are nice to be sure. I have got several from the Queen Classics line and I really love them all.

Here is a somewhat recent Case xx Copperlock in natural bone..

Dang, I like that Case, Sunny! Slim, trim looking and the scales look sweet. I believe I already mentioned that that Abalone Queen was just striking.

Phil, beautiful set of knives! Like many on here, I've been known to have a hankering for stag/stag bone. So naturally, those just look darn purdy.

I like what you said about them being like a smaller folding hunter. FHs are one of the patterns I have an affinity for, but they are just too big for general carry. I've often looked at the copperhead and thought they looked like a smaller folding hunter, myself. The mini-folding hunters are just a little too mini for me. While I haven't been much a copperhead fan in the past, I think I may need to gather a few real ones in. The only one I have is a small Steel Warrior. I may just have to focus on getting a good 'un soon.

I managed to dig a few out of the safe. Two Case 61549 Copperlocks- one in red chestnut, the other rose bone, and two 6249 Copperheads, one in pearl and a Buffalo in brown chestnut bone. The fifth is a two blade stag Wiedmannsheil with a locking master blade. The lock is released by pushing the smaller blade down.

This should be a good thread, great pics so far.. I wish I wasn't such a computer idiot and could figure out how to post pics... Decided I would try it again, went to do a search on postin pics and the search modes not workin..

Heres another Case I forgot I had until just now. Its a bit unusual in that it has a Wharnecliffe blade and is an EZ-Out opener. Its a Case EZ49 pattern, sold by Shepard Hills Cutlery some time ago.

All sweet knives, and my photography skills pale by comparison to some of you guys. :p I've been seeing quite a few of the Case copperlocks, and had wondered how they looked in direct comparison to the regular slipjoint copperheads. Very nice, and now I'll have to look into getting one. Hope many many more copperheads show up! :)

Some years back when my children were really infatuated with there good ole' Dad and pretty much worshiped everything he did(man I miss those days:D).. I got them started on the value of good firearms and good knives! One way I did this was by joining us all up in the Case XX Collectors Club. This was cool for a multitude of reasons. First of all the kids were free! Second, it gave me another reason to buy more knives.. At least three more per year..:) Because we had to get the Case XX Collectors Club knife for each of us.. In addition to that, we all searched a bit more going back to the clubs roots meant trying to buy as many CCC (Case Collectors Club Knives) Knives in as good a shape as I could.. This was not as easy as it sounds, because back then eBay was not yet on the radar for us.. Well anyway, I am on a rant don't you know... I'll stop it now!. :p Here is the 1996 club knife that happened to be a purrrdy looking smooth red bone Copperhead...

That's absolutely stunning.
I think I like the smooth red bone much more than a jigged version. Makes it very classy.
A perfect gentlemans pocket-knife.

I can only enjoy the pictures of all of you guys peanuts, as I have none myself. Oh well...

Some really beautiful knives there!

@Arathol
I like that Weidmannsheil pen release knife a lot!

In case you wanna get rid of it one day, just let me know. I`m interested!!!:D
(I have a Gebr. Gräfrath, Solingen pen release with stag scales that I like very much and yours would make a nice addition! ;) :D )

That sure is a purdy knife indeed, Sunny! I'm liking those smooth bones more and more. I have one smooth boned Case, a trapper, and a just picked up a chestnut smooth bone mini-trapper on ebay last night. Sigh, I s'pose I need to start working on picking up a copperhead or two as I've seen some nice ones on here already.

Hi Guys,

I don't know much about folders or even if what I'm going to show you would be considered a real "Copperhead", but back in the mid 70's I had a friend who sold Cutco knives and he had this "Copperhead" folder that I fell in love with and traded for. It was a user for me a number of years and served me well. About 10 years ago I gave it to a friend who was starting a "Copperhead" micro brewery. Anyway, I always liked that knife and picked another one up on e-bay last year (pics below). I'd be interested in anyones comments good or bad.

Thanks,

Ron

That knife looks just like a Camillus/Remington R1303-1306, OR the Queen Cutlery Moutain man. I'd bet that one of them made that under contract for Cutco. The pattern is a "jumbo lockblade trapper", from the original 1920's to 1930's Remington Bullet Knives. An excellent and beautiful knife indeed.

Actually my understanding is that Alcas actually made these in-house, and in fact Alcase made all of Case's modern lockbacks in the 70's and 80's....like the Shark's Tooth, Mako, Hammerhead, and others.
