since there was a recent thread about good edge angles

not really sure what the angle on this ASH1 07 SE is, but the edge was super thin (thinner than my BAD), then i took it down even more and convexed it . here it is after sharpening a second time to get a ding out (from impacting a rock):

and no damage. not even a roll

Jerry, i know you like the skinny a lot as a fighter, but i would crap my pants if i had to fight somebody with an 07 SE.

These two with the convexed edges are very sharp. They pop hair, and push cut paper like no one's business.

The Red/black handled BAD I traded for an Ash 1 cg probably would have been the thinnest slicer If I had been able to keep it. I had started polishing the edge on my strop.

My CG ash now sports a convexed edge, but not near as thin as the SS. The edge still push cuts paper and pops hair though.

Here's a set of .220" GWs, on left is from Busse, on right is my doing.

I haven't used it much since then but if I did I would be careful!

Y'all do some amazing work. I hope to be able to be that good one of these days. Reprofiling a blade scares the hell out of me though; don't know if I will ever have the coconuts to do that to one of my Busse's

Dont have a Closeup but my FFBM is stupid sharp, I took the shoulders off and dropped the angle slightly....shaves hair easily but chops like a mutha.

Here is my Satin FBM reprofiled and stropped to an approx 20 degree convex or 40 degree inclusive

The cuts through the directory were smooth and done to determine if the edge would roll....because too thin is as much a problem as too thick...it did'nt and seems the optimum for me.

Here is my Jackhammer which I reprofiled the convex edge slightly....thinning it down to reduce resistance and take a sharper edge...this is approx 18 degrees convex per side and 36 degrees inclusive. I also sharpened the clip which is an obtuse 25 degree per side or 50 inclusive.

Nice job on the JackHammer... May have to sharpen the swedge on mine!!

Looks like I have lots to learn about sharpening. I just got a leather strop and green compound but me edges are nowhere near to being really sharp.

Here's how I like to run my machetes for executing speed cuts and tending to personal grooming needs.

You didn't do all that work by hand did you? If you used a grinder or belt sander how did you avoid ruining the heat treat?

I need to clean up some of my good INFI edges and get some good pics.

This is the best Busse "Kin" edge pic I have in my files - Swamp Rat - Howling Rat (stripped):

Yep, I did it by hand. It didn't take too long on the DMT XX Coarse, Coarse, Fine, then sandpaper.
