Let's see some pictures!

It appears our resident sad SAK has been knocked off his throne, and the contagion that is all things SAK and alox has taken over another soul from another forum. Guy, you have been relieved....

Well I went and did it...I ordered myself a Farmer. :joyous:

What did you get ?
I've ordered on as well but it's going to take a while to get here .
The Farmer had better live up to its reputation as a mythical being or I'm going to be grumpy :)

Hi Ken, I ordered the Victorinox Farmer (53964), it's a silver one. Just my two cents, but I wouldn't spend double the price or more, just to get a color one that will degrade over it's lifetime. I ordered mine from a Canadian seller, so it will be here by early November for me.

Degrade??? ;)

My 4 year old son loves Daddy's "red knife". So what would any self respecting SAK fan do? Buy the kid a knife of course! So I happened across this one.

It is rather large. It's next to a tinker. But he still loves it! You have to start them young right? Here it is opened up.

He has started to use it as his eating utensils for most meals. Proud Papa I must say!

Yeah, through the years of use, the color fades or gets worn off exposing the metal beneath.

Some of us call that....beautiful. It weathers gracefully, showing it was a constant and faithful companion for life's adventures!

That wasn't really my point though...I said I wouldn't pay more for the same knife just because it comes in a snazzy color coating. That's more for the collector's who are willing to pay top dollar to complete a set of knives with every colour combination available during it's production.

It's ok, I understood you point and that's cool, the colored ones are more expensive. My point was your choice of the word "degrade" to describe one of the colored (esp red) SAKs most desirable features. Some of us SAK nuts buy them new and use the heck outta them, then use them some more and take pictures of the results. :D We absolutely love them like that. When I started buying ALOX in the early 80's they were all red so that looks normal to me.

Silver is excellent too (and cheaper)...I have Soldiers and Electricians in silver that are great...carried a silver Wenger SI today.

To each his own. Enjoy your Farmer.
