Lets See Some Pure Fighters

I'm pretty sure I see what you mean. There can't be a separate tang going through the wood, can there? How would you ever be able to get that into the wood, when you clearly have to link the wood into the integral tang from the side?

You could have a seperate rat tail tang coming out the centre/top of the part that looks like a keyhole. If you search "keyhole tang knife" in google and go to images. You will see some ways other people have done it.

There are a couple of fighters that you may enjoy:

This came today at last. I'm absolutely blown away by this knife, just incredible workmanship.

Hello Joe,

This "David's Fighter", made for me by Steve Johnson, engraved and gold inlaid
by Barry Lee Hands (his first ever gold inlay in pearl!).

I consider it to be a Pure-Fighter, even though it is completely different from
all other Fighters posted on your Thread, which are no doubt True Fighters as well!

What do you think?

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

The blade is a 336 layer random pattern with a sharpened & raised clip. I gave the blade a slight recurve profile mainly for aesthetics. The integral sub-hilt guard is from a 21 layer piece turned on edge so that the layers would follow the profile of the integral sub-hilt when forged to shape. The handle is a walnut burl with 416 fittings.

Love the Maringer construction featuring Japanese style craftsmanship. Love the use of Habiki and Seppa as he does it.
