For some reason I cannot see your pictures. I am really interested in seeing how the Purpleheart worked out and how it looks. I received a Purpleheart back in Nam in 67 while serving with the Marines. Got shot 3 times in the left chest and shoulder with n AK-47. Enough to retire me at age 20 but not enough to stop me.
He was banned for good reason. Here, and many other forums. Better to look elsewhere.Anyone know how to get in touch with "jim62" he was apparently banned from forum. I'm interested in some scales like he makes. Or does anyone know where to puchase laminate scales "blue and grey"?

Well it may be a necrothread but I might as well take this opportunity to show my wood.
The scales came from a 10 year old black walnut tree that was blown over during hurricane Katrina, I cut cured and fit a set of scales from the tree to this gifted to me 2 years ago from zzyzzogeton, (Wayne), here was my attempt.

Sheath courtesy of NJBillK, thanks for the new suit for my BK2, looks great with the native black walnut harvested from a tree the fell in my yard during a storm.

Nice....... What tools were involved? I want to attempt this in the near future
What a difference wood makes, those scales are gorgeous and the sheath a perfect match, thanks for sharing.![]()

I had a drill press, a jigsaw, a Dremel, a wooden dowel and block of 2"X4" with sand paper for sanding the flats and the dowel for the groves and curves. The Dremel was used to speed up material removal but it could be done without the Dremel, it'll just take a little longer. I spent a few hours on a summer afternoon to make it and rubbed it down with some tung oil.
Good luck.![]()
