Photos Let's see them Daggers!! What you have & what you want to get

A recent addition...

Looks somewhat similar to my Gerber Mk 1 25th anniversary edition except without a guard.

Yeah, the handles and the blade profile do look very similar! The Galvo has the frosty White Cerakote, and is a bit smaller, so it looks more like a boot knife. Those Mk1's are awesome, can't wait to see what they do for the 50th anniversary!

My latest find is this original 1st model French marine paratrooper dagger from the 1950's and/or 1960's.
On the steel guard it reads "Poignard de Combat" and "Special Beret Rouge", which translates into something like: "combat poniard for red berets"

Specs:

Overall length: 11.89 inches (30.2 cm)
Blade length: 7.08 inches (18.0 cm)
Max blade thickness: 4.82 mm
Steel type: drop-forged carbon steel
Handle materials: steel guard with hollow brass handle (can be disassembled)

Very Nice collection.
I’ve been trying to get the Guardian back up for a while but they’re not often for sale here. Had a shot at one last year but was outbid at the last moment.

But isnt Guardian Back Up (Santoprene handle) still in pro?
I’m after an older one. And I’m in Australia. They are only with the coated blade now aren’t they? I don’t think I could even get the current model here due to double edged import restrictions.

Older ones (Guardian 1980-1992) have black aluminium handle. Newer ones (Guardian Backup 1992-now) have Santoprene. The knife laws sure are tricky. Here in Sweden its ok to own but not to carry on common public places. Automatic knives is ok to own but you need license to import. If you are a serious knifecollector collector you can get a licens to import.

Only black blade on newer model. Older ones came with black or satin blade. Small run of serrated edge was made.

Thanks. Must be the Guardian then.
It’s the original with the caste alloy handle that I’m after in satin.
Patiently keeping an eye out.

Hi from New Zealand. Saw this thread and had to sigh up. I have got a passion for daggers that began as a kid with Gerber and the iconic Mark II and got well and truely under my skin.....as you can see.

So below is a shot of the double edge (and some whose swedge makes them quasi daggers) section of my collection. It covers original military knives, new and vintage production models, and some great Kiwi custom makers contributions. After that shot was taken I managed to find the Mark I and Guardian I models pictured (only a Command II away from the set now) along with the Kershaw Secret Agent (added to the Trooper, Amphibian and Military Boot) and the Les George Galvo and finally (a real score) the Pacific Cutlery Fer De Lance. Those last came from maker Brent Sandow who is mentioned in the thread and is making me his Ranger fighter and New York Special (Loveless boot knife) at the moment. As well as his own model FS the above poster has Brent also partnered with world renowned FS reproducer Peter Parkinson in making such accurate incarnations they are the only modern model licensed to be labeled as FS. The final shot is two of Peters knives by themselves for appreciation.

Vintage French Foreign Legion dagger from the '60's or '70's by French manufacturer Begon in very nice condition.

The blade has never been sharpened and still has the factory flat edges.
