LETS SEE THOSE MAGNIFICENT HARNESS JACKS

I like getting in relics of the Harness Jack Knife, there's so much that you can pick up off them, especially if you have a certain knife and trying to identify who made or who supplied the punch for that knife, here's a couple of relics that I picked up- not because they had any particular blade / punch that I needed to check out, I just wanted to have a look at them in person.
A nice example of gorgeous bone and jigging, the Remington punch that does not appear to have been used in it's lifetime with the blueing having done it's job with protecting the steel. This would have been a spectacular knife, unfortunately the main blade snapped clean off halfway.

Another very old Harness Jack kind of relic with it's beautifully worn Pic Bone almost to a smooth Bone -now that is some carry right there and to see this is great.
The Worn Main with it's heavily pitted tang, and the Alvord Punch.

A nice old John Pritzlaff Harness Jack with a Sabre ground blade, the punch shortened slightly but far from dramatically shows a very nice survivor.

Beautifully made- solid! The "Coke bottle" Ebony handles sit firm as do those gorgeous Caps and Bolsters - this is one solid well made knife that has it all going for it. I have a few other arrivals, one a Honk Falls that is so similar in shape, but there are just those few slight differences to sway you from thinking of any relationship - same Blade, different punches and very small changes in the make up.
Terrible photos that do nothing for this knife, I will take better ones in proper lighting instead of a night-time desk shot which never works.

Your welcome Charlie, terrible photos and lighting - that J. Pritzlaff looks so much better than how I represented it, I didnt do that poor knife any justice at all 😂

Great relics, Duncan!
Love that Pritzlaff! I know you bought it for the punch, but i love it for the almost full, sabre ground master blade with the long pull and swedge. A stabber jack/harness jack!

Thanks Dan
I did but this Pritchard fur the Compkete knife, it’s a nice example and your bang on - there little blade loss on the Stabber styled blade- punch is a little short but not too much- the complete knife is in real nice shape.
I’m very happy with this old Knife that still commands respect! 🫡

had a punch discussion recently and Charlie's 77 Washington Punch came up
what's the 77 punch called and was it copied from an old punch design or one of a kind

Hey Frank,
That's a very famous punch, no one better to answer that than the man himself, Mr. Charlie Campagna!

I think those 77 Washington Jacks's are absolute knock outs- what a beautiful representation of the Harness Jack Knife!

Here is an older N.Y.K Co Harness Jack with the stamp ground off and Eagle Phila. re-stamped over as they did. Well used and loved, the Shield is worn off half way :) 👍.

I took some quick shots the other night of this old J. Pritzlaff Harness Jack that did the knife no justice, here's hoping these photos are a little bit better.

Couple nice ones buddy 😎👍🤠

Thanks David :)

An interesting Harness Jack Knife arrived a while ago, Ebony handled, deeply etched blade, these were German made for the U.S.
Seems to be a salesman's sample not that you would stake your life on just because some wrote on it with vivid, unused with some age.

Cool knife! Love the etch!

My take on "salesman sample" is that a lot of them had the numbers marked on them much more recently to increase the value.

I know what you mean Lambertiana my friend, I don't get too hung up on it, unless of course I am buying a high end knife that comes with authentication- then it would mean something.
I'm guessing if you bought off a very reputable person then now worries. I will look at the font, they just had a beautiful handwriting back in the day when you see the neatness and style or font of the print, when I am looking at the 1367, it's not over the top stylized, but that 7 is showing signs of the older way- but hey - it's not a $1500 knife so its neither here or there, I'm sure that it may be authentic - but this is the most thought I have put into to it tbh. :)

A really nice and old Honk Falls fell on my lap the other day, so nice to see these old styled Bolsters, The ebony has a couple of chips - but man I love this knife, same type of sabre grind main as the John Pritzlaff. A very welcome new guest to check into the Harness Jack Knife family here.
