Let's see your 81 stockman.

This has been an immensely enjoyable thread and enlightening as well. As it stands, I prefer the square bolstered look and if my current Schrade 885 is any indicator of how the 81 might feel in hand, I think it would find a nice and welcoming home with me.

Though the thread has not done me any favors regarding my patience...

This #81 in African Blackwood belongs to my good friend and has been carried daily since I gave it to him three years ago this month. He lived in Oklahoma until a few months ago and now lives in northern Arizona. He works outdoors all day long and uses this knife for literally everything. It gets the job done and has served him well.

This makes me smile. I like to see these tools used to their potential. Your friend is lucky and so is that knife to be "on-board" 24-7. Great story!!

That's one well loved 81! Love it.

There is a certain charm to a well used/loved blade. Nicely done on such a great gift, he clearly appreciates it!

The #81s are robust, working knives! That said, here are some Safe Queens!!:D

Note, the top knife is a Muskrat,
the others are Stock knives. To be honest, I keep them to use as examples for future SFOs, but they are wonderful to CE and CF!! Classics of the highest order!

Here is an interesting comparison to a later model Schrade 8OT.

Those are lovely knives, waynorth waynorth ! I am intrigued by the red covers on that Old Timer, at least it looks like red. Beautiful knives, all of them.

Schrade did a set of deep Redbone knives, maybe 3 different knives. Maybe someone knows better than I do. (Classics?)
Very richly dyed Redbone!

Oh wonderful! I have become rather partial to red bone in its various forms, it certainly makes for a rather stunning Old Timer.
