Lets see your bows!

OK I haven't taken a pic of any of my new bow in a while, so here is a pic of some of the bows I made in Aug.

Hard to get a long bow in one frame and still have any detail. These 3 are glass bows I make. Asymmetrical reflex-def lex semi-long bows

These 2 are hickory backed maple core and an Osage belly.

Few things I learned from shooting my bow hard core 2 hours each day for the past 2 weeks.
-don't shoot when your arm is tired because you will miss by an inch and hit you moms shed
-I have learned to shoot and aim with one eye closed and my groups have gotten tighter and tighter, this was something I never mastered shooting once or twice a week since christmas
-I shoot better on the move or walking(don't know why), and barefoot
-shooting so much kills the shoulder, when even I draw the pressure back on my left arm hurts my shoulder
do you guys have any tricks to fix this?
-I need some new stuff(imagine that :D)
-its great fun

Great looking bows, Mike. You have my address, right? :D I really like the artwork on them as well.

Oh, and thank you for posting them. Now I don't have to go to the trouble of taking pictures of my bow and 2/3 :o

What knives do you guys carry when you are out stump hunting.
I'm thinking I will strap a barkie canadian camp to my quiver with a small kit and tarp when I go stump shooting.
I often get carried away down there in southern ohio so I should have atleast enough stuff to make camp.

Looks like a great refinishing job, jw.

Man, I gotta get out shooting again. The trouble is there's no place close.

Doc

Thanks Doc. I am happy with the way it turned out. I have practiced with the cheap easton allum arrows I have, but I still need to get some more tackle since Im so new to this. I dont even have a quiver yet.:o

Im in no rush though. I am taking pleasure in starting this new hobby, and it will all come in time.:)

Im starting to look at longbows now. I can tell this is gonna get expensive quick! I will get one eventually, but I am gonna work on getting set up to make my own arrows first.

The whisper can't even be heard standing 15 yards away. It is dead quiet.:D:thumbup:

no pics yet but i have a 64" Chek-Mate Kings Pawn recurve, 24lbs pull at 28". Ultralight fast bow. I shoot Easton "jazz" shafts with target points, nothing special. Would like to get a nice set of cedar shafts with more neutral feathers.

Love the leather Baldrics and quivers some of you have....source info? i need to pick one up.

I have sloppy form, i shoot instinctively and seem to place well on the targets in any case.

Hey TwinBlade, can you do that without the sights? Just kidding!! (I'm a Longbow Archer). Good shooting bro. H-minus

No pics, but I've been shooting with a relatively cheap PSE Predator bow. It came as a package deal with sights, rest, quiver, etc. It shoots very well, but it's a bit noisy and rough. It definitely does the job, though, and it'll last me very well until I have the money to buy one of those super-fancy rigs. Looking forward to shooting a couple deer and maybe some rabbits and squirrels this fall.

Good shooting, TwinBlade.

It's good that you are that accurate or you would have hit that kid's bike that he left laying against the target. I see in the third shot that you moved it for him. The next shooter might not be as accurate. :D

Good God, the last thing I would want to do is shoot without sights...unless it's a shotgun! :D

I am so uncivilized when it comes to gadgets it ain't even funny. I need gadgets. The truth is, I would go from shooting a 300 52X in NFAA 5 spot (which ain't too damn bad given it's a hunting bow...oh, that's my best to date) to not being able to hit the broad side of a barn with trad equipment. THAT would piss me off so bad in the first few shots, I would throw the bow on the ground and let it rot. LOL! :D :D

Oh, I also need to take a deep breathe, exhale half a breath, squeeze the back muscles and let her fly. Don't quite think I could even hold a 45 lb. recurve that long without the shakes. :D

I actually did a small review on one of these and took some tree stand photos...actually my wife took them...to show that it is non-obtrusive, comfortable and capable of carrying everything you need...calls, binoc's, range finder, piggyback knife combo....you name it, you can install it.

Hope this helps ya!

Thanks bro. It hits like a ton of bricks too. 442 gr arrow at 277 FPS. Roughly translated, 75.3 ft/lbs of energy. :D:D:D

Daammnnn.. that sucker is fast... great pics man.. i love those tree stand shots...

i need to get a new tree stand...:o

Daammnnn.. that sucker is fast...
It spits 'em out no doubt about but but here is the kicker...

I get a kick out of this guy or that guy who are like "My bow shoots 335 FPS and is top dog"! Well that may be all well and good at IBO rated minimum weight arrow and they also have a snappy and loud bow that can't shoot a fixed blade broadhead worth a sh!t without getting nasty planing and utter accuracy failure.

I know you are a trad guy and I also know I ain't talking greek to you given the speeds of trad equipment. It all comes down to practice and to shot placement. One of Fred Bears favorite shots was the femoral artery. yup, he aimed for the ass...some people just look at me with the deer in the head lights look when I tell them that too.
