Let's see your Charlie SFOs

The story with that one begins with the 2011 forum knife. After GEC made our forum knife, they began regular #85 jack production as well as Charlie had the HJ5s on the #85 pattern. I believe GEC had a few extra cap lifters and extra harness jack blades and put them together for Charlie.

Well, you're close Trand. Actually, the knife is the last one produced in the HJ5 series. Charlie told me that Bill H. called him saying he had the parts to complete one more HJ, but he had run out of the punch blades. He asked CC if he could use a caplifter to finish the one knife, and I bought it from Charlie at the 2012 OKCA Show along with two HJ5's. I didn't consider the knife to be terribly special at the time, but I had missed out on the 2011 BF knife and wanted a caplifter model; in hindsight am really glad Charlie offered it to me, even though I had to do a little file work on the caplifter to make it function better. lol

Today, the knife is very special to me indeed! Thank you so much Charlie!!!

Barry, I have been seriously drooling over this thing. Story, please!

That is most certainly unique - neat story, and one to keep with the knife for later times to come, those HJ'S have a special place in my heart - I absolutely love those knives!

Buuuuuuutttttttt.... There can never be a knife that can supersede the HJ's I own, no way... this one I have only just managed to pry out of somebody's tight grasp!!

I am more than slightly overwhelmed with this knife in my hands - its a shake your head and look again feeling I tell you!!

The Ivory in person is exceedingly warm to look at, and my rushed shaking hands trying to get a shot before loss of light has done this knife NO justice - but it rightfully claims its place as leader of the pack!!! what out guys an' gals... the 66's are back in town!!

What a line up of seriously beautiful knives, the 66 I have to admit is one of my favourite model of knife I have yet come across....

To Bill, Charlie - Gentleman, if ever there was a day when you could sit down on your porch, and gaze out and wonder and overlook your life ( as I do at times ), this would be the day when you should by all rights sit back , smile to yourself and have that sip of your favourite, and just know that you have done something amazing in your life.

I absolutely love this Ivory example - its beautifully made, and very proudly one of my prize possessions.

Pretty cool post Duncan, congrats on a nice collection! Definitely one to be proud of, that's for sure!

just one question.Duncan how did you get ivory into NZ (or more accurately out of the US )?
I ask because I almost got knocked back on mammoth ivory a while ago.

please note .any answer involving self incrimination is not required.

yes that HJ does look kinda smug sitting there.:)

I'm not sure how Meako but I think it involved a glass bottle and a lot of time and luck.

Thanks guys, the knife is stunning - absolutely - fantastic.
Meako, Pre-Ban Ivory is actually legal, but I guess there are ways, especially if one has a knife in the luggage ( suitcase ) its legal to bring knives in.
Of course anything illegal I am not interested in - Trand, i laughed when I saw your map - the route the bottle traveled shown - it was just about spot on!!

gees...theres a tingling in my nose..... omg its getting longer!

I look forward to fondling that knife again today, carried alongside Pauls beautiful Stag Ka Bar he sent me - wow what a spectacular day!

Ok guys and gals, I had the supreme pleasure of getting to hold the GORGEOUS IVORY HJ6. To say it was a struggle to ship it off is an understatement:thumbup:

The beauty did NOT come from me (someone verrry special though) I just played a very small role in it's journey;)

Duncan, what a truly special HJ you have there my friend...truly special and no one deserves it more then you:thumbup:

Glad you like that knife, Duncan, Paul at. al.
Bill did a nice job. I suspect that handle material is going to become scarce.
