Lets see your CPK in Leather!

Well Martin ( woodysone woodysone ) , here’s your final WIP pic. It was an honor to experiment on my first inlay style sheath and I hope you enjoy it.
Should you choose to match your FK3 hardware to the sheath, Mama @Jo the Machinist has been asked to send you some.

Special thanks to Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery for the kind and useful advice. Coleman, I really appreciate it and admire your work. Sadly, I don’t own any of it. 😉

duramax duramax Bill, those inlay sheaths pictured above are truly inspirational ! 🔥🔥🔥 After screwing up a lot of leather and patient tutelage from expert sheath makers, I finally have the confidence to proceed with the TAUNTOSAURUS sheath…..LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!

That turned out really nice!! Great job! Really really great.

Thank you for the kind words, Michael. I’m always just a PM or call away. 👍🏼

For the record…I agree with Richard338 Richard338 I would have also flipped that hardware around. ;)

Congrats Martin! woodysone woodysone Gonna be a nice sheath to slide in your pocket! 👊🏼

Man, I really appreciate ya Coleman. I made use of multiple pointers you offered and they helped immensely. 👍🏼

Although I have immense respect for both you and Richard338 Richard338 for the expert craftsmen and artists that you are, I can’t figure out this Mummert Clip thing to save my life ! 🤣 They come right or left handed and the right handed one just seems to ride better in a right front pocket if mounted on the belly of the sheath. Maybe some prefer it differently? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe I’m just cray cray ???

Completely depends on how the pants are cut, MC: your method is perfect for cargo pants pockets (almost vertical), the opposite clip is better for classic Levi’s/Wrangler pockets (near horizontal, as I wear them):

Your sheath including clip is great, there is no right or wrong side.

Makes sense as stated, my friend. I spent most of my years wearing Levi’s for play and Carhartt’s for work but anymore, it’s “tacticool” cargo pants with slanted front pockets for either. Between that and tending to belt carry fixed blades, I need to consider other people’s preferences while sheath making. All good ! 👍🏼

Most importantly, thank you !

Wow! Beautiful work Michael. You’ve come a long way. I hope I can own one of your sheath someday.

Sorry, miscommunication Micheal. I like the side of the sheath the clip is on. I was just talking about the fastners. 😬

NOT working tonight. So…made a little progress on woodysone woodysone ‘s FK3 sheath. Doing a tapered and “Loveless cam lock style” welt in order to accomplish solid retention in the sheath.

I realize that monopolizing this thread can be annoying…That said, the great man that I’m making the sheath for asked for WIP posts. Also, I’m learning while doing and pretty frickin’ excited about it….so, if you’re annoyed, deal with it, Sally ! 🤣🤣🤣

Great work on the sheath and that inlay is 🔥! Such a nice guy to make that sheath for.

Nice to see the finished product, but honestly I was just hoping to see more foot pictures 🤫 🤣

That looks great MC ... and it's going to a real class act. Congrats on a real good looking set up Martin!

No worries brother ! I didn’t mean for my responses to come across as negative or defensive. Apologies to all, if so. Sometimes I try to hard to be funny or get caught thinking through a situation while writing. Perspective is welcome and I appreciate your and Richard’s opinions. 👍🏼
