lets see your customized BK2's

That is why japanese katanas had that polished look...aside from the looks it was because it helped on the cutting performance on their blades..... When battonning this goes like a knife on butter. Just before this picture - battoned on some teak wood with some nasty knots and no problems there....

Gorgeous and functional. Love it! I would have thought you stropped that with some kind of compound.

I did try with strop and green compound, how ever I think I was doing something wrong, because it kept scratching more than polishing, so - returned to the sand paper and flitz.....

Used sand paper 600 grit, then went to a 1500 grit....time sandind and in the end some fritz polishing....and done.... Just time and you get a beautiful finish and a arm workout ...... A side from looking sweet it does improove on cutting due to the lack of ressistance.

Another question....did you use paint stripper to get rid of the epoxy coating or did you sand paper the whole blade by hand? If you did just sandpaper everything by hand that is impressive....I will have to try that on my BK2 now

Just sand paper, no paint stripper, to take the paint used a 100 grit sand paper though..... Somewhere someone said....do not used 100 grit sand paper to take the coating, you'll just scratch the blade, use 600 grit........my thoughts on that is.....no way I am spending the rest 2 years sanding the blade to take the coating...iT just took tooooo long, so I went with 100 grit and then. For polishing 600 1500 and flitz

Awesome. Definitely will try that in the next coming month. I will have to post a picture of my progress. Thanks again!:)

hey guys I was just looking at chestnut ridge also, they have a bk2 with micarta handle and custom kydex sheath for $130 and you get the origional sheath. The micarta handle looks nicer than the ones from tomars but hard to tell without touching, what do ya reckon worth the extra cash?

Sorry stewy, I didn't catch this. CRKS has some fine micarta, but you have to look and see if its flat (like the ESEE micarta) or contoured (like the Kabar micarta). I like CRKS and they do some damn fine work, their sheaths are top shelf, and they handles are as good as any other out there. Oh wait, there aren't any others making micarta and g10 handles for Beckers are there?

I would do a cost comparison of the two, see what you can get a BK2, sheath, and Handle for buying them seperately, then see what you can get at CRKS. I bet I know where you will be going on that one.

Feel free to call CRKS and ask, they are some great people and they really know their stuff. Its where I got my BK14 from, and its here on my hip as I type this.
