Ooh, hopefully this thread is still around when I get back from camping this weekend. I just finished a sheath with a firesteel loop, and I'm going to put a spy capsule on the end of the firesteel as a handle and to store PJ cotton balls.

For now though here is how I rigged my leatherman wave sheath to carry a firesteel and fatwood.

I also carry a blank firesteel with a hole drilled in it on my keys, with a nitro pill fob that has half a PJ cotton ball in it, and a hacksaw piece. The firesteel isn't in the picture because I didn't have it on my keys at the time.

Heres a light from fatwood shavings, and my LMF steel. I primarily use this setup, but I carry a lighter and matches too. Along with some other tinders. I will snap a pic tommarow of my kit.

Doc- I had the same idea with those things... Looks great. In a survival situation it would be fairly easy to get a fire lit with one of those things if your motor skills were suffering due to stress or exposure. Very cool!!

Here is mine I am taking with me hiking out in W. Texas.

Scout Firesteel with a handle I threw on it, with a para lanyard and hawksaw. Also some Jute, Candle nub, char cloth on a bed of jute with some more char cloth underneath it. Next to it is a magnifying glass mainly for lookin at stuff, but useful in sunny weather non the less.

Is that what they're called? I found them hanging upside down on my fence. I'm gonna start a collection.

Firestraws, fatwood, firesteel and striker. All in a little water proof Otter box.

I'll try to take some pics later, but I am kinda of digging the ferro rods with magnesium in them.
