These were two of the first three knives I made. Reclaimed steel, maple and poplar from my firewood pile. This was fall of 2012, iirc.

I’ve been doing a lot more as ground blades recently, to help keep costs down.

Even funnier is that some of my relatives who visited during christmas actually went through my "first-couple-of-knives-bin" and they didn't really see the difference between my Then and Now knives. Not sure how to interpret that, really. o_O
I love that about knife making. I’m always seeing flaws. When I see one of my early knives I want to grab it back any throw it out. By early I mean 4 knives ago. But the owners tell me that they get compliments on them. We are all a way too critical bunch but that’s fine. It’s feels great to keep moving up.
