Thank you my friend !! I guess that is a good way to look at it and it is a fine knife . Just the right size and fits the hands just right .

Luso - I like your selection of 83's. Looks like a natural stag drop point and a burnt stag clip point? I have an 83 clip I need to post when I get around to it.

Brett - sure like that corset shield. Wish we would see that shield more often in their regular runs. Last time I recall seeing it was on the Mike's 85 SFO. Is that a 23 SFO or production run?

Harry - your knife reminds me of looking at a sunset...

It looks like I get to be the first one to post a PURPLE 72 on this thread . The Violet Pioneer Bone

Some of us may not like the color , but it is a very good knife . Lock and Un-lock is solid but very smooth .

The purple is superb. I could only afford one 72 though, and had to get the grizzly cut. Suits me if not everyone loves it... makes them more likely to be available when I'm ready to buy one.

Nice collection Harry. That violet dog bone really stands out - in a good way.

Brand new 72 Violet Pioneer Bone, my first time with this pattern. I love it! Also, I had scrap piece of violet leather cord, and I cut and dyed a violet bone bead to match.
I am not sure if this OK to do here (moderators please let me know) but I may have a few violet bone beads left over and may give them away to those who would want one for your VPB 72.
I'll update as soon as I find more info.

Harry & Jeff - Ive been on the fence with the purple but am not convinced the purple would look amazing with a great patina.

Appreciate the kind words on the 73 Gevo and CB.

I originally reserved a Jigged Dog Bone very early on . Then that got changed to the Violet Pioneer Bone . Then I just hoped that it would have a little more Red in the color and just stayed with the Reserve so that I ended up with 2 of the 72's . I myself really do not care about what it will look like with patina because I have found that I prefer to keep the blade fairly clean . I do not mind having a knife in a color that is very different . All that being said , They made a pretty fine cutting instrument Brett .

My apologies. My post should have read:

"Ive been on the fence with the purple but AM convinced the purple would look amazing with a great patina. ::thumbup:"

Either way I like it buddy. :o

Sorry for my typo.

would anyone here have a side by side photo with a 72, 73, 83, and 77?

You can see a Side by Side of the 72 and 73 and 74 and 83 , going left to right back at my post #271
A 77 will be approx. 1/8 " shorter and it too is a very nice pattern size IMO .
