I am frequently bemused by the quality of some knives that the maker didn't stamp. Somebody whose name started with V or lambda must have loved this one.

More needs to come off the heel end of the steeling hollow, and some has to come off the point end. I suspect I'll take the point back a couple of inches, but I'll see how it feels when I've got a continuous edge.

Agreed. I found it at a flea market and loved the overall shape. The blade is thinner and flexible to be so broad.

I wouldn't worry about it. Its a cheap fake......might make for a good chopper though....

A friend at church said I could play with this for a while (and sharpen it for him).
I don't think I want to risk putting sharpening scratches on it; it's probably worth more than I am.

The knife and the brown button sheath are worth about the same. That Randall number 1 begs to be used. The sheath should not be; it is too sweet.

LOL! Those two look intriguing I picked up an old Butcher's Knife in a hardboard sheath last week. Tool Man was wanting £1, but I haggled him up to £1.50!

I still grab the old kitchen knives when I can, but I don't see them very often and they're more expensive than they used to be.
