Anthony, I did own one a wee while ago, with a stunning Stag handle, please...could you do us all a favour and show this beauty of your with light behind the blade so we can get a glimpse of the colour of the stone?
Thanks my friend.
Ps...tomorrow your new friend takes flight;) you know what I mean :)

Thanks and yours on Monday.. And yes, I can take a few photos of the sunlight shinning through the obsidian blade. Its raining real hard right now but when the storm breaks I'll give her a whirl.

PS: I like your Kabar and the Jokerstm, Johnny and I really like Wolf's display here too.. Good stuff Gents.

Whew...I just read this Thread from the first page to the last, ladies and gentleman....lets get out those fixed blades and get this thread cracking - there are so many lovely knives in this Thread!

I posted pics of it a page or so age in a hand rubbed polish (2000 grit) and with some advice from a maker on here I was about to bring the polish down and really show the activity...this is with a flash but if I sit it next to paper it will reflect whatever is on there so I feel it isnt bad for my first "start to finish" knife". :)

Alan Davis trailing point in 1095 with hamon and water buffalo handle. The style is traditional I guess.

Whoa! Y'all have been busy in here since I last logged in here.. Absolutely gorgeous contributions since then!

. . . please...could you do us all a favour and show this beauty of your with light behind the blade so we can get a glimpse of the colour of the stone?
Thanks my friend. . .

OK Duncan, the majority of the pix I got of the old Obsidian turned out too dark when I held her towards the sun as this photo shows..

But after experimenting and holding the knife down away from the sun you can see a little color.. tans, browns and very lightblue-greys.. pretty . Thanks for the idea, pard!

Could I show you a couple of my Fixed blades, plus my latest...

Here is my all time Favourite...please forgive the mineral oil that is plastered all over the blade..looks like humidity droplets :o

And my absolute Minty Western, for a 20 year old knife-I love it!..

Here is my latest Fixed blade...check out the mean Hamon on this Babe! Backwoods does it again, and the wood on the handle is simply fantastic, the blade is Hollow ground, and bites

Just STUNNING Duncan!! one and all!!. The vintage Marbles, the Western and the lumber and hamon on that Backwoods custom is absolutely bad to the bone!!. LOVE 'EM ALL!!

Flamethrower burns up the page!
Sweet!

SunnyD, I tried to lighten up the blade in your photo.
zlsxhu2.jpg

That is a really fine piece.
Can you move the beads around or are they epoxied/glued/fixed in place.

Really fine knives gentlemen.

Flamethrower -- Nice Bagwell Bowies! Love 'em!

Ebbtide ole pal, excellent work on the lighting! And yes, the beading is totally stationary and cannot move in place.

Thanks fellows,
Anthony

This scarce Ruana Bowie used to belong to me 5-6 years ago.. Well I've tracked it down purely by accident in a collection of a fellow that it was sold to by the guy who originally made the purchase from me.. I sure hope he'll bite on my offer cause I want it back..

Just got this one the other day. Henry Torres MS - Ironwood and 52100. Only about 6 1/4 overall. Kind of reminds me of the old Shrade Sharpfinger. I believe Mr. Torres worked with Bill Burke who worked with Ed Fowler. Probably explains the the hell-for-stout Fowler style sheath. I also had the handsome and talented Mr. Paul Long make me one of his beauties.
