  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

Here's an older Queen I have. "Queen Steel #75" is etched on the blade.

Oooah Yea, Nice one Josh!. That old #75 with Winterbottom bone brings back a few fine old memories from many-a-moons ago. She's a keeper for sure.

I did.:D
Everything about them is as close to my idea of perfect as it gets. The grinds are beautiful and super sharp. The workmanship is absolutely top notch. The sheaths are masterpieces as well even if they are for the wrong hand.:D

The best part is how they perform.. Jim's & Jim, Jr's steel can really take and hold an edge like few others can!. I am a huge fan of his convex grinds best of all.. You are going to love them!

Best,
Anthony

I was absolutely shocked by the grinds. They are incredibly sharp. I have one knife as sharp but it was made by a guy well known for his edges.
I'm surprised that we don't see more of them here. They are works of art.

Heres one I made from an old hickory 10" butchers knife, silver soldered guard, sambar crown handle, brass pins, leather sheath. :)

So have you decided whether or not you like the smooth rolling grinds like the old Randall Made, and Scagel knives were usually found with?

I can appreciate a well executed grind line that is crisp and straight, but when I'm using one those profiles usually get whatever it is cut easiest for me. :D

You have good taste Mack.

. . . . I'm surprised that we don't see more of them here. They are works of art.

I agree. The Behring's work is absolutely first rate and they are great guys. Authentic.. I first got acquainted with Jim and his forge back when he was a dealer for Bark River Knives in the late 1990's. I knew after seeing his wares that he'd be quite popular in a hurry..

Incidentally, if anyone has a few minutes to spare, his website treemanknives.com has some great sportsman -- out of doors type, mostly hunting and fishing stories from him and his friends/clients as well as some shop talk. I always find it fun to read and view the photos when I have a little time to kill..

Two Hudsons Bay knives. The big one was made by the late Terry Baublitz. No idea what the steel is, carbon or tool steel I'm guessing by the patina, this is one of the Chief models. I traded a few knives for it at a powwow several years ago, and found out at Scott Gossmans Gosstoberfest, that he had finished the knife for writer Dan Schectman, and later learned from Dan directly that he had traded it to the dealer at the powwow.

The smaller knife was made by Scott Gossman, and is the roachbelly pattern, with A2 blade. I believe Scott said it was a maple handle. Can't see in the pics, but Scott putt a cross hatched pattern on the scales.

I went to a small gun show at a local gun and rod club this afternoon with my father. Barely anything there, but a local knife dealer was set up. This guy always has some good stuff, from some well known makers.

No, I did not buy this one, and he was not selling it, but he did let me take pics. My cell phone pics do not do it justice, and I did not want to sweat all over it. The silver inlaid handle scales were neat. I had just eaten a pit beef sandwich, and didn't want to get grease all over the knife either. Yep, that's my fat butt reflected in the blade. The makers are listed on the blade as follows: William F Moran Jr, E Jay Hendrickson, Joseph F Keeslar, Joshua G Cordova, Jerry Fisk, Hanford Miller, James L Batson. Always nice to see a little piece of history.

Here is a trio of my Anton Wingen Jr. knives - lovely condition, 115, 13 and 10 inch, the 10 inch is a very hard to get knife from Anton Wingen compared to the 13 and 15 inch versions.

Keenwell, Union Cutlery1920's very lightly polished, had a great letter from Paul Tsujimoto,Sr. Engineer,Product Development & Quality KA-BAR Knives, who told me a bit about this knife and also helped greatly when I first posted this knife-fantastic condition! I really really like this knife-although be it a non frills hunting knife - to me its a good ol' classic in beautiful condition..( please forgive the oil you see on the blade )

Here is a good used, really stout and well built, Pilots Air Force Survival knife by Ontario I just picked up.. Got her real cheap and am in the process of cleaning her up a little before I use her as an all-purpose all-around hard task knife for 'in-camp' this fall / winter season..

.. This is the first such Ontario Pilots Air Force knife I have had before. I am hopeful she'll work pretty well for a good general beater around the camp.. Anyone else ever use one of these for similar purposes?

Best,
Anthony
