It is either Rosewood or Amboyna Burl. I thought Rosewood, but I suspect that Jarrett is probably correct with Amboyna. Gorgeous wood whatever stump it was extracted from.
Ten years ago I was all about beautiful ironwood burl. With another decade of experience in life under my belt, I have accepted the fact that I am just not meant to own wood handled knives or light colored clothes. I am too hard on both. Micarta or burlap burl is my thing these days.
Beautiful taper on that one too. I have to say that black pinstripes over natural liners is a great look with wood. :thumbup:
Enjoy carrying it Douglas. I will pick up a synthetic Trail Hand in the not too distant future.

Here's a photo of a knife that came out of the forge with Rosewood Burl.
With either of the woods, Amboyna or Rosewood, this stuff is gorgeous!
