Seems like most people around here carry a peanut everyday or casually, so thought it would be neat to see how people's patinas develop. I have two my Case Chestnut which is a little over six months old and used daily, my second is a Kabar flea market find that I picked up sometime in the middle of May.

This is also bait to get Jackknife to post some photos of his famous Peanuts:-)

Alright, Pete!

Here it goes :)

Sorta like this?

;)

My sole Peanut is stainless steel, so no patina'd peanut here. (... If only Case would reissue the amber bone CV Peanut.)

Great thread idea, however, and I look forward to everyone's pictures.

Thank you ~P. for making the photo better to the topic of the thread :)

Kind regards

I took this one a couple months ago, because I thought the patina of the blades and the chestnut bone of the scales compared favorably to my favorite piece of functional pottery.

I cannot take credit for the patina on the Camillus pony jack, because I got it used at the flea market. I will however take credit for rescuing it from a filthy, grimy existence in a display case (it was really nasty when I first brought it home). I took this shot the day after I found it. You can see that the blades of the Case peanut, which I had owned only about a month, still look rather new.

Here is a shot of the two as they look today.

Here is a better comparison shot, using the same slate sidewalk as a background.

All but two of my Peanuts are SS, Case Tru-Sharp, 420HC (Queen, Schatt), VG-10 (AG Russell). I have a yeller CV and my stag damascus, neither of which have a patina as of yet. I'm a bit fanatical about keeping them wiped down... :p

Sounds like Pertinux and Gevonovich need to do a little shopping :-)

Having recently (and unexpectedly) added two awesome little GEC chunkas, Pertinux is now going to concentrate on the user aspect of "user with a selection."

Unless Case re-releases an amber peanut with CV.

Or a little GEC single-blade 25 with a Haycorn presents itself.

Or.

Here goes nothing!

I take it the mail came :-) , what did you get today to feed the addiction?

*grumple* Stich bulied me into posting in this thread... (jk).

Here`s my yeller. Has only a faint blueish patina from some cream cheese and other non acidic foods.

And here is my now lost of faithful. I had it for 6 months, and the yellow one is nice, it`s just not the same. Miss this little guy every day.
