Photos Let's see your shop!!!

Isn't this a pretty quick way to a carbon monoxide induced death? Tim? TIM!? Anyone seen Tim?
with the fans its like a wind tunnel in there, just need to keep some water warm so my hands dont freeze...I could probably use a coleman camp stove too

I think Coleman makes a catalytic heater that is safe indoors. Research that, I haven't tried one. Glad you are still with us Tim. :)

no shop, just a table 2' x 3' at work that our basic grinding stuff is bolted to, 4 1/2" vise and that's about it. I have access to a mill and a heat treat furnace, but those are in our other building next door. Lots of hand filing and hand sanding. Working on some 154cm kitchen knives now, I never made any of those before, we'll see how they turn out.

Just got this big guy yesterday for only 100 bucks

Soooooo much easier than using a hand drill

You are going to be so much happier than you would have been with an 8" drill press...Great Score!!

I have the same exact one. It is pretty great. Luckily I didn't have to pay for it as my dad got it new for about $60 at the time.

That is the one I just realized you can change the speed on. lol

Thanks busto! Glad I listened to y'all and kept looking for something bigger
The one thing you need to check....don't take it for granted that the table is "Level and Plumb" you can check it with a small torpedo level or you can take a metal coat hanger bent in the shape of a "Z" put one end in the chuck and bend the other end to just touch the table top and by hand rotate the spindle to see where it touches and misses the table. That should get you close to squared up with the spindle.

Man, killer shop. What is that setup with the portable bandsaw you have? Looks amazing.

Thanks man! It's an Italian made bandsaw, Femi 780XL with an accessory table for freehand cutting. It's a pretty nice setup, it's easy enough to switch between the two modes; cutting stock at length and cutting contours.

It wouldn't hurt for it to be a little more powerful, they have versions with more power though. But as always with bandsaws, a lot of its performance comes from a good blade.

Holy cow! That thing is wicked. Time to figure out how much this is gonna cost me. Thanks for the reply.
Cheers!

My drill press is older than my wife...
Picked up last week an old Wilton 4" mechanics bench vice (1987 Made in USA) & a vintage Craftsman Sears & Roebuck
15 1/2" 3/4 hp variable speed drill press (from 1967), like new, barely used.
So happy! I spent $225 total, & the older gentleman that sold was happy, but I am happier,
many years to come!
