Although we all love Case knives here on this end of the Porch, we also know that current production models can have a lot of issues. I was so happy to find this Stag Sowbelly with just about perfect fit and finish. The blade is a bit off center when closed, but, other than that, it is just about perfect. This one was obviously a SFO for someone. It is about ten years old, and I have never seen one like it. Do any of you know anything about this model?
Tony Bose did a wonderful job designing this pattern for Case. The blade shape alone is a work of art.
Last year at Blade, I visited with one of the Case representatives and asked him about my concerns. Basically, his response was that they make millions of knives to GEC’s thousands. For them to match GEC quality, they would have to spend a ton of money on employees and infrastructure which would cause the price of the knives to skyrocket. He said they view their niche as making reasonably priced knives for people to use. I could see his point. Simply making sure the blades are centered on a few million knives would be quite a task. Still, I wish they would up their game just a little to eliminate blade play, liner gaps, off center blades, and uneven dye. I would pay more for that. However, my main concern is that they stay in business and continue the tradition! I can always sort through the weeds to find the flowers. It is more rewarding when you find a good one.
BTW,

, you have been posting some gorgeous photographs around the Forum Yann. I love the way your whiskey colored pocket worn Tribal Lock looks with a patina. That pattern truly is one of the best. We have Tony Bose to thank for that one as well.
