Let's see your Traditional Case knives, old to new.

a slight modification from a few days ago.... today it's the yellow CV sowbelly, along with the 75th anniversary stag half whit.... it's difficult to imagine a better "total package" combination of two knives. I also mod my sheepfoot blades on my stockman knives. I "de-hump" the top of it, then tweak the kick, if needed, to bring the nail nick down to just above the top of the clip main blade. Ergonomically wonderful, IMHO, of course.

Although we all love Case knives here on this end of the Porch, we also know that current production models can have a lot of issues. I was so happy to find this Stag Sowbelly with just about perfect fit and finish. The blade is a bit off center when closed, but, other than that, it is just about perfect. This one was obviously a SFO for someone. It is about ten years old, and I have never seen one like it. Do any of you know anything about this model?

Tony Bose did a wonderful job designing this pattern for Case. The blade shape alone is a work of art.

Last year at Blade, I visited with one of the Case representatives and asked him about my concerns. Basically, his response was that they make millions of knives to GEC’s thousands. For them to match GEC quality, they would have to spend a ton of money on employees and infrastructure which would cause the price of the knives to skyrocket. He said they view their niche as making reasonably priced knives for people to use. I could see his point. Simply making sure the blades are centered on a few million knives would be quite a task. Still, I wish they would up their game just a little to eliminate blade play, liner gaps, off center blades, and uneven dye. I would pay more for that. However, my main concern is that they stay in business and continue the tradition! I can always sort through the weeds to find the flowers. It is more rewarding when you find a good one.

BTW, Corto_Malt Corto_Malt , you have been posting some gorgeous photographs around the Forum Yann. I love the way your whiskey colored pocket worn Tribal Lock looks with a patina. That pattern truly is one of the best. We have Tony Bose to thank for that one as well.
Hi,
You always have great knives that you showcase perfectly Greg.
I always enjoy seeing these knives.
Concerning the Tribal Lock, it is a knife that I really like to use and I thank you for making me discover and appreciate it. Without your nice mailing, I would not have known about this knife.
For me it has the right blade size, its locking system is reassuring and its weight/size ratio makes it an ideal knife for the pants pocket.
I often use it when I can't take one of my favorite knives or as a second pocket knife.
Have a good week Greg, looking forward to hearing from you.
Yann

I’m not usually a “bling” kinda guy…especially when it comes to traditionals. But, after looking at Case knives through the years, I realized that abalone & damascus are now kinda synonymous with the Case brand. So I added a couple of “bling” pieces to my traditional portfolio. Gorgeous work by Case. And I agree with Leslie Tomville who said Tony Bose designed some of Case’s best knives
