Let's see your Traditional Case knives, old to new.

Incidentally I phoned Case and inquired. They didn't discontinue the Tribal lock; however, they are not in production. They stated supply chain issues............

Best regards,

I have also noticed that the Tribal Locks have been drying up. As far as I can tell, there have been no new ones for quite a while, and the dealer’s existing stocks are diminishing. I am glad to hear that they have no plans to discontinue it. Regardless, I purchased a couple more just to be on the safe side. They apparently did not tell you when they will resume production, and things can change. The Tribal Lock is one of my favorite Case knives, an excellent Tony Bose design.

Thank you very much P Pollack for contacting them, and getting this information directly from the horse’s mouth. Posts like yours are why I follow Blade Forums. Good solid information about knives rather than idle chit chat. The worst chit chat is about personal health issues! A few weeks ago there was a big discussion about false teeth on one of the threads. Yuck!

Here's a 70s canoe. I don't know exactly what vintage but it must be late 70s because I can't see any dots. I assume I would be able to see some peaking out from behind the bolster if it was earlier.

Great canoe! Imho 70s Case's have probably the best f&f of any era Case. That wonderfully thin pen blade is tucked in so neat! On mine you can slide a peice of paper between them, but it does rub a tiny bit opening because of the lateral pressure. I can just make out the dots on mine in this position, however mine does have 7 to see. A one or two dot probably would be difficult.

Here is another 70’s model, a 1979 one dot to be exact. I agree with you David, Misplaced Hillbilly Misplaced Hillbilly and Dan1892 Dan1892 , Case certainly turned out some great knives during that decade. Probably my favorite is the Pretty Bone Canoe with the etched blade. That knife takes me away to a different time.

I didn’t realize that the Appaloosa Bone began in 1979. I also recently learned that the Appaloosa Bone was the first time that Case ever tried to intentionally create a bone color. Before that it was a random by product of whatever dye they were using.
