I'm not a collector, I swear I'm not. But from time to time I'll see a new pattern (new to me) and get all hot and bothered to pick one up. I saw a Swayback Gent a few weeks ago in a store while traveling near Fort Wayne. I couldn't decide on it and bought a Wharncliffe Mini Trapper instead. But, I couldn't get that Gent out of my mind. Been looking at them on the Internet and thinking about ordering one, but it's nice to be able to check out a knife in person before buying. Today I drove 20 miles to the nearest Case dealer and found one from 2015 in burnt amber bone. Oh, I love it! Perfectly centered blade and, darn it -- the backspring is flush closed, the backspring is flush open, and the backspring is flush at half stop! I was puzzled by the model number: TB61117. Yeah I know all about "6" and "1" and all that stuff, but "TB"? Oh, Tony Bose design. OK! And so slim -- perfect to slip into a spare pocket so as not to clash with my mini trapper or my stockman or my SAK.

I have been looking at that same knife a few times, there's one in a store not too far from where I work. I've taken a couple trips over there and fought off the urge to get it so far. I also have to consider my mini trapper, which I'm still loving more every day. It doesn't get a ton of use cutting things daily, but it fits my hand beautifully, and I've found it to be a perfect "worry bone" while I'm sitting in traffic for a couple hours each day! Congrats on the new knife!

Thank you very much! I love the "swoop" of the back of the Warncliffe blade on the swayback gent and the "S" curve it makes when open. I agree on the mini trapper -- mine has the Winterbottom jigging and it really feels good just to handle it. That knife seems to have just the right size, shape, and bulk for fondling. :)

Ace, how do you find it as a cutter? I have the barehead blue jigged bone version. As pretty as it is, the swayback haft fits my palm much better blade edge up than it does down. For that reason it doesn't get much pocket time.

1993 Classic XX 63083 Banana Blue Bone Whittler.
Really a Case > Blue Grass Cutlery > Queen Made (I believe when Bill Howard was at Queen) :)

Grand knife.

Why is it called Banana Bone though??o_O

Looks very much like Queen's Swell Centre Whittler No.48 frame or even the Winchester Black Box Swell Centre which was made by Queen during Howard's time there. Excellent Whittlers both, just the right size for pocket carry.

Thanks, Will

Thanks Will.
Not sure about the Banana Bone name. It is an interesting jigging. Very pocket worn feel. It is a great pattern & size indeed. Like it even better than the GEC #33 which is also a great pattern. I believe Bill Howard was at Queen at the time this was made. Great fit & finish on this one.

'77 Canoe. I'm not sure what the handle material is.

Very nice! I believe the handle is bone on that one. It's my understanding that if the word "case" on the oval shield has a line around it like yours, then it's bone. If it just says "case" without the line around it, then it's Delrin. Maybe someone else can confirm this. Lance
